This charming two double bedroom luxury flat takes up the entire first floor of the original 18th century Guard House in Guard House Lane and is one of three local holiday lets offered by 'Stay Wells and Somerset'. It was sympathetically converted just four years ago from an impressive stone building which was originally built to house prisoners of war during the Napoleonic Wars in the late 1790's and early 1800's, a stark contrast to the comfortable holiday rental that it is now. There is a very smart entrance with entry phone system and one set of stairs up to the first floor where the main front door leads to an entrance hall with access to the lounge/kitchen/dining room which is a lovely double aspect room with rooftop views towards Wells Cathedral.
There is engineered oak flooring fitted throughout the flat and a tasteful kitchen fitted with integrated appliances including a Stoves induction hob, oven, dishwasher, washer/dryer and fridge/freezer. There are two bedrooms with kingsize beds, one of which can be converted into a twin, a stylish shower room, gas central heating with smart heating controls and period style thermostatically controlled radiators, double glazed sash type windows and there is a generous allocated parking space to the rear.
High speed internet, a smart TV with a host of on-demand players and an Alexa music speaker preloaded with the Unlimited Music package will help you enjoy a cosy stay at this lovely apartment.
The Guard House is tucked away just a few metres from Wells High Street and the City Centre with its historic buildings including Wells Cathedral and the Bishop's Palace. There is an excellent range of shopping and recreational facilities, bars, cafes and restaurants, twice weekly markets and festivals throughout the year.
The City of Wells lies on the southern slopes of the Mendip Hills providing miles of beautiful walking and riding countryside. Glastonbury and Bath are both within easy reach as well as Wookey Hole Caves, Cheddar Gorge and Longleat Safari Park. The Jurassic Coast is just an hour away.
