About this property

Coastal character cottage offering a peaceful haven

Trefechan Wen Dairy is a traditional former Welsh stone barn in an idyllic setting within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and a 20 minute walk from the amazing Coastal Path! With scenic coastal walks right on your door, the rugged, elemental beauty of the coastline with its fabulous views, coves, beaches and wildlife is yours to explore! Steeped in history and away from it all yet easily accessible by car, train and the ferry from Ireland! Your piece of Pembrokeshire paradise awaits!

Immerse yourself in the comfort of soft furnishings with the warmth of a log burning stove. Enjoy complete privacy with your own garden in which to unwind and relax! Feel free to explore the adjoining land and take in the amazing views of the Preseli hills. Inside, climb the spiral staircase to a romantic mezzanine bedroom overlooking the cozy ground floor living area. A ground floor double bedroom completes the accommodation while a fully equipped kitchen is yours to create anything from simple dishes to hearty meals. Trefechan Wen Cottage: a warm sanctuary so welcoming after a day traveling, exploring or simply taking in the natural beauty of this piece of Pembrokeshire heaven!

Please note that the sofa bed is to allow up to five guests but is only really suitable for one person, ideally a child.

For more family friendly accommodation at the same location please see our other listing: Trefechan Wen Barn. It is all on one level with two double bedrooms and underfloor heating!

We are easily reached by car - plenty of parking on site with dedicated parking to the front and side of The Dairy.

Other things to note:
The spiral staircase to the mezzanine bedroom is quite a feature but is fairly narrow. Particular care will need to be taken with children, but there is a stair gate.

We like to make you feel welcome and as a small gesture provide a modest 'welcome hamper' for you. Just the basics (bread, milk, eggs etc) with maybe a local treat or two! If you let us know if you are vegan, or if you are dairy or gluten intolerant we will provide suitable alternatives. We also maintain a larder, stocked with canned foods, pasta, rice and other handy ingredients as well as the usual condiments, seasonings and sauces.

Perfect stay in this quintissential Welsh cottage
I can't say enough good things about our stay here. From the booking, to the greeting, to the communication from the hosts - everything was spot on. About those hosts - what made the stay especially special was the hospitality of Marty and Bev. Genuinely nice people, who went out of their way to make sure we were welcome and had everything we needed for our stay. Marty even welcomed us with a few essentials upon arrival (bread, butter, milk...a couple of cans! Cheers!). I thought the cottage and the grounds exceeded expectations, even better than the photos online. Very charmingly situated and newly appointed. Everything you needed for a comfortable self-catering holiday. We also took advantage of the washer/dryer that was graciously offered. I suppose I could go on and on about how much we enjoyed our stay, but I think you get the point. Do not hesitate to book this property in a beautiful part of Wales. Highly recommended.

Host profile image
Since arriving at Trefechan Wen in September 2020 and being fortunate in being able to make this amazing place our home, Marty and Bev believe this beautiful part of Pembrokeshire is one of Wales best kept secrets and one which we just love to share with guests!
We have over four years of hosting experience (2 of which in Bermuda, where we lived before returning home to Wales) and aim to provide our guests with the best experience possible. We have listened carefully to what guests value the most, are sensitive to individual needs and respect privacy as well as the need for us to be there for you when ever needed. We live on site and are available to assist with anything before and during your stay. We share our home with five adopted cats, some of whom may make themselves known to you during your stay. We are still exploring and discovering new things about the area and are happy to recommend walks and lesser-known places of scenic, historic and archeological interest nearby.

Why they chose this property

Trefechan Wen, though having a feeling of remoteness is really very accessible, easy to get to being just a mile from Goodwick and not off the beaten track as some rural properties can be. With spectacular walking, ancient historical sites and scenery to be explored right from our doorstep and being just a mile from the world-renowned Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, there is just so much to offer for nature lovers, walkers and outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. Sandy beaches and surfing beaches are just a short drive away, as are the dramatic Preseli Hills! For stargazers, the Pencaer peninsular is also a recognized dark sky area with no significant light pollution resulting in a clear view or the panoply of stars at night!

What makes this property unique

A cosy haven and true home away from home with all the comforts and amenities you are likely to need after your day out exploring, walking, swimming, surfing or visiting ancient monuments, country houses or gardens. Your hosts wish to ensure you have a memorable and relaxing stay and strive to deliver that personal touch.
