About this property
Pineapple Spa Cottage, Lower Swell - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Driving through the Cotswolds to your holiday destination you will pass by popular destinations like Stow-on-the-Wold, Upper and Lower Swell and Bourton-on-the-Water. When you arrive at Pineapple Spa Cottage the breathtaking carved stone façade is a reflection of the beauty you will find within. It is debated that the property was designed by Samuel Pepys Cockerell, the architect behind Sezincote House. The front door opens into the living room with a large ornate mirror, wood burner in a detailed surround and a luxurious sparkling chandelier in the high ceiling above. A comfortable sofa and armchair gather around the fire providing a comfortable place to enjoy an evening drink. An open stone wall showcases the pineapple font through an archway as you pass through to the rest of the cottage.
The well-equipped kitchen has an electric AGA, a Belfast sink and plenty of space to prepare delicious meals to be enjoyed around the four-seater dining table. Doors open from here to the lawned garden which you can climb to enjoy beautiful Cotswold country views. From the living room a number of steps lead you to the lavish bedrooms which have been furnished with a high attention to detail. The bathroom at Pineapple Spa Cottage is a fantastic addition where you will find yourself spending many hours. The freestanding reclaimed copper bath makes you feel like royalty as you soak away your worries.
With off-road parking for two cars and unmissable sights such as Sezincote House and Gardens, Chastleton House and the towns and villages of Chipping Norton, Broadway and Cheltenham a bit further afield this is the perfect Cotswold getaway.
Ground Floor
Sitting Room:
Full of unique features and eye-catching décor the first thing that takes your eye is the pineapple water fountain at the end of the room. No longer connected to the spa supply, many women over the years have visited this tiny spa for the health benefits of the waters here. A glass panel in the corner of the room shows the spa below and if you listen carefully you can hear the water trickling. There is comfortable seating for four, a wood burner, artwork showing the spa exterior and an upcycled dresser which used to house chickens. Full of character this sitting room is a beautiful space to spend your evenings.
Kitchen/Diner:
Two steps from the living room take you down to the kitchen/diner passing a handy WC on the left. The kitchen has enough space to prepare meals with an electric AGA and all the modern conveniences you could need. The dining table seats four in front of patio doors which open to the garden and patio.
First Floor
In front of the pineapple spa font, stairs curve around to the first bedroom.
Bedroom One:
The only room on this floor, this first bedroom is a king-size double with an elegant gold bedframe and luxuriously plump bedding. Built-in wardrobes hiding a pull-out TV and a dressing table with carved pineapple details around the mirror is perfect for getting ready for a meal out. There are mirrored bedside tables and wall lights to each side of the bed. Overlooking the garden this quiet room is a peaceful retreat.
Second Floor
More stairs take you up to the second-floor landing with a small bench, before there are three steps down to the second bedroom and the bathroom.
Bedroom Two:
In the eaves at the front of the cottage, this king-size double room has an open stone wall, exposed beams and a wooden floor. Decorated in a tranquil blue with a selection of books you can relax on the armchair with a cup of coffee. A bedside table and built-in dress offer storage and there is a lamp and TV. The ornate framed mirror adds a touch of luxury to this room.
Bathroom:
Completing this cottage is a stunning bathroom with a freestanding copper bath, separate shower, bowl sink unit and WC. The reclaimed bath holds its heat so you can spend hours here away from the real world. An old fireplace surround and open stone wall add a grandeur to this room.
Outside
A patio outside the kitchen has a dining table for four and leads up to a sloped lawn which looks out across surrounding countryside and a lake, above which the sunsets are spectacular. Opposite the cottage there is private parking for two cars.
