About this property

Luxury 1 bd gite. Rural & Peaceful. Eymet just 5 mins away. Fast Starlink WIFI.

Sleeps a max of 2 people, La Porcherie is a spacious 1 bedroomed gite set in 7 hectares of unspoilt and natural land, yet within 5 minutes car ride to the beautiful, bastide town of Eymet with its markets and many restaurants and bars and excellent for walkers and cyclists.

The bedroom is large and our kingsize bed is comfortable with a soft duvet and high quality bedding. All towels and linen are provided.
There is a bathroom with a bath and large walk in shower.
The living room is light and spacious with French doors onto a covered decked area.
The kitchen has a dishwasher and is fully equipped, and if you need to borrow anything else just let us know. The washer and dryer is in the pigeonaire tower.
For those of you wishing to work we have a dedicated connection for the gite if you wish to work inside or out. Fast and reliable.

The gite has its own private entrance with an entrance hall leading to steps up to the main gite areas. The whole gite is on 1 level for disabled guest as the entrance can be at the decked area at the back if the steps are a problem. There maybe a short walk over our lawn if it rains heavily.

We keep you comfortable whatever the season with warmth in winter and ceiling fans in summer. Thick walls protect from the summer heat.

The living area has comfortable leather sofas, a TV with English stations. Bookcases are full along with DVDs should you wish to borrow during your stay.
Outside, the decked area is covered and sheltered with a rural view. It is totally private and quiet for you to enjoy. It has lounging chairs and a table and chairs to enjoy al fresco dining. There is also a bbq, 2 sun loungers with cushions, 2 chairs with cushions and low table as well as a large table with chairs for dining outside.

It is an ideal retreat for nature enthusiasts wanting to explore, experience and photograph the local wildlife. We have deer, sanglier ( wild boar), hares, rabbits as well as numerous birds including many birds of prey buzzards, kites, falcons, harrier, also herons, hoopoe and the exquisite song of the golden oriole. We have created our own nature trails taking you through our reserve, with a map just in case!

Many species of indigenous Orchids grow all over our land. The foot tall Lizard Orchids being a favourite. Situated on the southern tip of the Dordogne with its dramatic history, stunning bastide villages, wine, sunshine, chateaux, restaurants, night life, markets & vide greniers.

Our nearest airport is Bergerac, just 22 minutes drive away. Just 2 main roads. You won't get lost.

Beautiful gite!

Lovely and clean, fully remodeled gite in a rural setting just outside Eymet. Everything you could possibly need is provided. Very comfortable lounge with two sofas, and terrace overlooking countryside. Comfortable bedroom with plenty of storage. Owners friendly and quick to respond to questions or requests. Highly recommend, would stay here again.

Wonderful Country Farmhouse

This is a charming, up to date gite in an ideal location, 3 km from Eymet, a wonderful small village in Dordogne. It is hard to get a sense of just how peaceful the location is from the photos, but we greatly enjoyed our stay. Michael and Donna were great hosts. I only wish we could have stayed longer than the 6 nights we were there.

A Beautiful Place

We greatly enjoyed our stay at La Porcherie! The gite is surrounded by nature, yet only a few minutes from the charming village of Eymet. And, the lovely furnishings inside the gite only add ed to the quality and comfort of our stay. Michael and Donna are fantastic hosts and we greatly appreciated their reccomendations for activities in the area. We had a wonderfu and very memorable visit!

Week in the Dordogne

We stayed for 5 nights as part of a trip to Bergerac. We chose the gite for 5 nights so we could sample the Dordogne countryside. The gite is at the back of an old farm building which the owners had refurbished to make a very nice cool apartment with an outside decking area. We seemed to spend more time just sitting on the deck listening to the birds singing and enjoying the peace and quiet! There were many small towns and villages within 15 minutes drive that were well worth visiting Issigeac, Eymet and Lauzun were our favourites. Also lots of chateaus nearby offering wine tours. All in all a great break that we would happily do all over again.

Superb property and holiday experience

Everything about our stay was wonderful. The property is very well presented - clean, comfortable and everything that you could need (and more) is provided, along with some very well chosen pieces of furniture, art and adornments. Quiet location with views over countryside. Short distance to the picturesque village of Eymet for shops and restaurants (and supermarket) - less than 5 minutes by car. The hosts Donna and Michael are warm and welcoming and able to provide local knowledge if needed but also respectful of the privacy of their guests. Hope to be going back when we have an opportunity. This is a gem!

We must say that we had a great stay in Montguyard, location top, weather top, accommodation top. We visited the villages around ( not over run by guys like us), biked de gpx routes provided by the owner and also had excellent meals in the restaurants around. The gite is very comfortable (cool) and fully equipped. We were of the first ones to stay there. You got all you need in a 4 km radius. So yes we enjoyed our time there. Rik

This place is an amazing gem! I liked it so much I extended my stay by two days. The hosts were friendly, helpful, and excited to have me there. They have a lovely hike around their property, and I got to see some exciting (but safe) wildlife. Eymet is VERY close-by with MANY high-quality restaurants. ...All this, and I haven't even really talked about the property yet...stunning, modern, spacious. Comfy living room, cozy bedroom, large bathroom (shower and tub), and a fully appointed kitchen, relaxing porch. It was an easy drive to several nearby towns and made a good home base for longer trips to Sarlat and Lascaux. Stay here to relax!

Lovely peaceful location

We really enjoyed our stay here. Donna and Michael were very welcoming and recommended places/restaurants to visit and were always available if needed. However, they also respected our privacy. The gite is very clean, spacious and beautifully furnished. Breakfast on the decking watching the red kites over the trees and the heron passing over every day was wonderful. We feel the gite would benefit from improved access rather than having to park a vehicle and then walk down a grassy slope and in front of their home. However, this wasn't a major problem and no doubt will be addressed at a future date. We would recommend this gite in the countryside to anyone seeking a relaxing and peaceful break.

Great Stay!

La Porcherie is a beautiful little house behind the owners' place. It has all the charm of a stone cottage, with high end furnishings such as leather sofas, TV with English/French channels, a fantastic and comfortable mattress, as well as a Louis XVII armoire. Spacious modern bathroom and shower, efficient kitchen. Set in the quiet countryside with fantastic peaceful views and lots of great walks/hikes, including fields, woods, and a lake. The hosts, Donna and Michael, are extremely personable and helpful for anything you need to ask. We had a great time visiting with them and their dog Maisie. Close to the town of Eymet with its medieval square where there are always restaurants open and a great market day. PS lots of English speakers in this area so you have your choice of speaking French or English. The area includes lots of villages and wineries worth exploring, and great restaurants from pizza to fine dining. We will definitely be coming back!

La Porcherie

We stayed in La Porcherie for a week in June and loved every minute of it.Michael and Donna welcomed us like old friends and made us feel at home immediately. They showed us around the gite and explained all of the essentials to make us feel comfortable throughout our stay.La Porcherie was truly outstanding and finished to a very high standard. In addition it was equipped with everything in mind.It was unusually hot during our stay but due to the extremely thick walls of the gite, it remained wonderfully cool inside - absolutely no need for air conditioning but the bedroom did have a ceiling fan which we didn’t need.The gite was extremely private with magnificent views over the countryside. It had a lovely decked area off the lounge with table, chairs, loungers and a BBQ - everything you could possibly want from such a high quality gite.The beautiful bastide town of Eymet was a short 5 minute drive away with free parking everywhere and plenty of bars and restaurants to try throughout our stay.In conclusion, La Porcherie is truly a 5 star property which we can highly recommend to anyone looking for accommodation above and beyond the norm.Thank you Michael and Donna for allowing us to stay in your beautiful property - we may return.Kenny and Heather

Michael and I have been married for 36 years and have lived in France for the last 13 years. We run a photographic, floor plan and videography company called La Huppe Photos et Plans where our clients include gite/chateaux/holiday home owners and people selling their property.

We spent some time renovating Rooy and La Porcherie, and also having lived here during this time we have ensured that our Gite has all the necessities you would need for a fabulous holiday home. We recently sold our other gite and had attained 24 x 5* reviews. We of course will continue this trend for your benefit and ours.

Why they chose this property

In our private, unspoiled setting we often spot wildlife in the fields, including the elusive and shy wild boar and plenty of deer that graze in the early evening like cows in the field in front of the decked area of the gite. We have seen the wild boar many times and the size of a male wandering across the road is a site to behold. This is not the norm, but you might be lucky enough to see one. We have 11 hectares for you to roam about. Although rural, quiet and private, we enjoy the beautiful bastide town of Eymet on our doorstep with its multitude of restaurants, architecture and markets. It is not often that you find a property with hectares of unspolit rural highland with Scots pine & juniper with its own nature trails, that is still close to a thriving & beautiful bastide town of Eymet. Which contrary to public opinion is very French indeed. Expats only make up 18 percent of the population. Very French with English familiarity and friendly locals. An excellent place to practice your French in a friendly environment. We have many excellent restaurants suited to different budgets in our area, and the night life is excellent in summer. We sit in the middle of many landmark bastide towns, churches & chateaux, including the quaint village of Issigeac and its famous Sunday morning market. Monflanquin, Villeneuve, Bergerac, Perigueux and Agen are worth a visit along with the famous vineyards St Emillion and Monbazillac. The highest sand dunes in Europe can be found at Arcachon and Bordeaux the capital of Nouvelle Aquitaine is also well worth a day trip. Plenty to do and see.
