Region: Cornwall’s visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain’s premier holiday destinations.
Town: Tintagel is a well-liked but not overrun tourist site and the location of the fabled King Arthur's Castle, whose ruins dominate the cliffside just beyond the settlement. The water, rocky coves, and breathtaking views dominate the area around. Surfing is the main draw for people who enjoy the water, and there are several beaches nearby, including Trebarwith Strand and Bossiney Cove. The Old Post Office (National Trust) and other establishments like taverns and restaurants can be found in Tintagel. The SW Coast Path runs through the village and, for the fit, weaves its way through dramatic terrain in both directions along the cliffs and down to the water's edge. The picturesque village of Boscastle, with its charming quay and local bars for refreshment, lies 2.5 miles north along the walk. The surfing hotspots of Newquay and Bude are further away, along with associated resort attractions, but Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project, Padstow, Camel Estuary, and Port Isaac are all accessible within a 40-minute drive.
