Unwind in Whimsy by the Sea, our coastal cabin perched on the hillside overlooking a wild wooded valley in the Havens, part of Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. A paradise for dogs, walk off-lead across the fields of the secluded 100-acre private estate, or explore the spectacular Pembrokeshire Coast Path. Walk to the beach, cafes and bars of Broad Haven through the woodland (or it's just a few minutes by car). From the cabin and deck, you have uninterrupted views across the treetops and meadows of a wonderful wildlife haven close to the sea.
Feeling active? Go horse riding on Newgale beach, surf in Broad Haven, try Stand Up Paddle (SUP), learn kite surfing, or book a coasteering trip. Hike along the coast path, swim in one of the many quiet coves off the beaten track, or see how many different sea birds you can spot wheeling off the cliffs. Take a boat trip to Skomer Island and see the puffins, or visit one of the picturesque towns and harbour villages along the coast like nearby St David’s, Solva, Porthgain and Little Haven.
THE ACCOMMODATION
Whimsy by the Sea is a cedar wood cabin all on one level, entered via a couple of steps onto the deck. Inside the entrance door there’s a coat cupboard with hanging rail and space to store shoes and wellies. The one-bedroom cabin’s light-filled open plan living area has a double-glazed glass wall looking out over the woods and opening onto the deck. There are two sofas, an electric log burner, a dining area with a table and chairs for four, and a compact, but well-equipped kitchen with fridge-freezer, dishwasher, oven and microwave. The bedroom has a king size double bed and a separate dressing room, and there's a bathroom with WC, hand basin, and bath with an electric shower overhead.
YOUR OUTSIDE SPACE
Whimsy by the Sea has a sunny south facing position surrounded by grass, bushes and trees. Sit out on the deck running the width of the cabin, and soak up the amazing treetop views over the valley (the deck is gated too, great for dogs). At the side, there’s a dining patio and an outdoor tap; and there’s also private parking for two cars.
Bikes, boards, SUPs and other equipment can be stored outside in a sheltered area at the back of the cabin or under the deck. Neither area is enclosed.
LOCAL AREA
There are two good restaurants, a cafe and a chip shop in the local village of Broad Haven, plus several pubs and bars (and more in Little Haven, the next cove along). You can buy the essentials from the well-stocked village shop, and get anything else, in nearby Haverfordwest with its range of supermarkets (including Tesco, Marks & Spencer and Lidl), eateries and shops. Little Haven is also home to Lobster & Mor, a wonderful deli shop offering high end craft and local foods, freshly prepared sandwiches, barista coffeen and side dishes to take away.
Whimsy by the Sea is in Timber Hill, a peaceful 100-acre family-run estate shared with around 40 other Scandinavian-style wood cabins, many of which are also privately owned. The layout of the grounds has been designed with peace, privacy and nature in mind, making it the perfect natural hideaway by the sea. Although there are other cabins around, it feels very private and secluded
