Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
Town: The village grew originally in the 17th century due to its location on the old military road which is now the A 811 and developed further with the arrival of the railway between Stirling and Balloch, at the south end of Loch Lomond. A further connection was added to Aberfoyle to accommodate the increasing tourist numbers. The lines were all discontinued by the 1950s and the main route through the village is the main A811 between Stirling and Loch Lomond. The village today has an inn, a supermarket, post office and coffee shop/ pottery shop and an art gallery. Most of central Scotland can easily be accessed from the village with Loch Lomond, The Trossachs, Stirling and Glasgow all within easy reach.

We really enjoyed our stay at the apartment, which was so spacious and didn't leave anything to wish for. Comfy beds and beddings, sharp kitchen knives, and all necessary utensils. Cooking with the AGA is such a cool experience too.
The house and grounds are a show stopper and an ideal remote base for exploring Loch Lomond and the falls in the area.

Disliked: Cleanliness
As we approached this property we were overwhelmed by the overall impression of style and grandeur. When we entered our apartment we were pleased how large and imposing it was. We enjoyed our stay because the location was just right for everything we wanted to do but unfortunately the property was not up to the expected standard.Be prepared for noise from adjacent apartments - the property has been divided using modern lightweight materials and we could hear children, piano plonking and family noise from above and around us.Whilst on first sight the apartment appeared clean we found there was a thick layer of dust on lots of plug sockets, skirting boards, window sills and radiators throughout the apartment. This was particularly noticeable in the bathroom. The kitchen was not well equipped and there was no towel. The AGA is a very attractive feature but is not a useful way for holiday makers to cook meals. The mattress protectors were very worn and need replacing. So - what appeared to be a great holiday apartment had some issues that potential renters should consider before booking.
This property is absolutely gorgeous — the drive in feels castle-like, the setting is peaceful countryside (though you’ll need a car), and inside the décor was exactly as pictured. One bedroom was spotless with fresh-smelling linens, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches of fruit and shortbread on arrival.Unfortunately, the problems outweighed the beauty. The hot tub was barely warm, one bedroom had a musty odor that left our girls’ clothes smelling awful, and the floors hadn’t been deep cleaned in a while — our feet turned black without socks. The washer ran endlessly until we stopped it by reading the owner’s manual. Worst of all, there was visible mold in the house. This is a serious health risk; my daughter is allergic to mold, and we had to carefully limit her time in the bathroom to avoid what could have been a hospital trip abroad. On top of that, the host was not reachable when we needed help. The Google Maps address link they provided took us to the backside of the property, leading to a private home. We eventually found our way, but multiple calls and messages to the host went unanswered.Overall, while the property looks stunning, the lack of communication, cleanliness issues, and health concerns made this a disappointing and stressful stay.
