Puffin Cottage offers couples a charming retreat to relax when they’re not exploring the town on foot or visiting one of the many local tourist hot spots nearby. Decorated in a subtle, pretty coastal style, the open-plan living room is a delight to return to after your day out. The well-equipped kitchen is perfect for cooking breakfast or an evening meal if you are not out at one of the many local eateries. Relax on the comfy sofa in front of the Smart TV in the bright airy living area. The attention to detail continues throughout the property with a light airy bedroom benefitting from a TV should you crave a morning lie-in. Step through into the bathroom with a large slipper bath for a relaxing soak and a separate shower cubicle. The separate indoor swimming pool just out of the door is available for guests between 10am and 6pm each day April to September, with exclusive use for a morning or afternoon dip or treat yourself to time in the sauna.
Puffin Cottage is less than a mile from the town centre, so you can stroll there in your own time, perfect for when you want to dine out at one of the many excellent restaurants, some with a sea view of the harbour. Sundays are home to the morning market on the side of the harbour, popular with locals and visitors with a wonderful array of goods. The little harbour village has a selection of small shopping pods selling some local crafts, food and drinks. Little Shore Beach has pretty beach huts for hire, a lovely treat whilst on your holiday. A walk along the pier is always pleasant with some lovely sunsets to finish off your day.
Amble has bespoke shops, plenty of cafés, fish and chip shops and a highly acclaimed Italian-style ice cream parlour all within easy walking distance. A walk along the river brings you to Warkworth in about 2 miles, a picture postcard village with the castle sitting at the top of the hill, stop off in one of the friendly pubs or cafés. Further along the coast, you come to Craster, Seahouses and Bamburgh, all steeped in history and lovely for a few hours exploring.
Alnwick is only 15 minutes away with its majestic castle used in some Harry Potter and Downton Abbey scenes, a great experience for both adults and children. Look around the small town exploring the cobbled streets and shops. The beaches up the Northumberland Coast AONB remain unspoilt and underpopulated so there is always a place to find some seclusion should you wish, Creswell and Druridge Bay beaches remain isolated most of the time and are only a short drive south. Whilst in Northumberland why not take a trip over to Hadrian’s Wall for a completely different day trip away from the coast and discover more about the Romans and the famous Roman Wall. Wherever you go in this super friendly county you will be sure of a real warm “Geordie” welcome.
