About this property
Idyllic Dartmoor Cottage
Summary:
Spectacularly beautiful Dartmoor farm (grade II listed) in the heart of the moor. Adjoining the house there is a self-contained, self catering Dartmoor holiday cottage called the Den used for holiday letting accommodation. Perfect for a countryside break away from the city.
The Space:
Inside The Den at Headland Warren Farm you will find a smart, colourful and comfy cottage with low beams and lintels.
A ramp up to door (5’6” lintel) to hall, fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, freezer, gas cooker, larder fridge.
Two bedrooms – a double with en suite shower-room (suite) and view of stable yard, and a twin. Shower-room (suite, shower seat).
Stairs up to living/dining room with TV/DVD/video, floorboards/rugs and long, lovely moorland views. Spring water.
Wifi connection is available however fairly slow and somewhat unreliable, hence can only be relied on for low wifi consuming activities.
1 Dog allowed - £35 cleaning surcharge
Please be aware that there is a stream and a pond at the property. It is therefore important that children are always under parental supervision when outside. It is for this reason that we also do not generally accept bookings with children under the age of 5.
Guest Access:
All space is accessible.
Strictly no smoking in the cottage.

We do not allow BBQs or open fires at the property. This is for safety and insurance reasons as well as to comply with guidelines set out by the national park authority.

The Neighborhood:
Headland Warren Farm is situated off a small open moorland road, in the heart of Dartmoor, between the Moretonhampstead to Two Bridges road and the Widecombe-in-the-Moor to Chagford and Moretonhampstead roads, to the south of the head of the West Webburn and close to the West Webburn/East Bovey divide. A few miles to the south is Widecombe-in-the-moor and about equidistant to the north and east are Chagford and Moretonhampstead. Widecombe is the touristic centre of Dartmoor and has to offer very good pubs, tourist shops and of course the Widecombe cathedral (with a service every Sunday). A drive of 40 minutes will take you to the university and cathedral city of Exeter where there is access onto the M5, stations with mainline connections to London and an international airport.
The nearest beaches are roughly 45mins to an hour and 15 min drive away, all between Plymouth and Dartmouth along the South Devon coast.
Getting Around:
We strongly recommend that you come by car. Local buses run to Ashburton, Moretonhamstead and Postbridge however this is not within walking distance from the farm.
Other Things to Note:
ENERGY
The Dartmoor farm has no mains facilities at all and is totally self sufficient. Electricity comes from a generator; gas, which is used for cooking, comes from a bottle; water gets pumped out from the local stream.
Something to keep in mind is that guests will have to be careful not to exceed the electricity supply when switching on multiple machines. This is not usually an issue, just something to be mindful of.
Strictly no smoking in the cottage.

Interaction with Guests:
Our caretaker Jannette Chappell will be available to answer any questions. She will visit on a daily basis as she also looks after our animals. Upon your request she can also arrange your groceries/some local produce before you arrive.
