What a great location! We were close to everything we wanted and had a great stay. There was plenty of room for the five of us. After two weeks of traveling, the washer and dryer were a welcome sight as well. Chris was very helpful in making sure our stay was perfect. Thank you. I recommend staying on the Dana
This is hands down my favorite VRBO I’ve ever rented. I could live full time in this boat. It’s in the perfect location. The marina is very nice and very safe. Tons of dining choices, close to a couple of grocery stores. You can literally see the tower bridge from the marina. It’s across the road from the Tower of London. The boat itself is very nice. It’s clean. It’s well appointed. The owners are very responsive and easy to work with. I hope to stay there again. Highly recommended!
Loved our barge near the Tower Bridge! Two bedrooms and a couch worked for us perfectly. The Kitchen and living room area was spacious. It was easy to find restaurants and shops the marina! Would definitely stay again!
The Dana was an absolute amazing experience for our family. The boat is bigger and nicer than the description said and location is amazing with awesome Restauraunts very close.
We fell in love with the Dana! My family of 4- two teenagers and my husband and I just spent the weekend in London on the boat. The host was able to allow us to drop off our luggage early which was priceless , so we didn’t have to lug the suitcases around London. We had breakfast every morning on the top deck with pastries from the local shop about a three minute walk from the boat. We actually ate dinner right around the corner and topped off the night at a little wine bar, all the while the teenagers relaxed on the boat after our long day’s tours. The area is lovely, the boat was one of the highlights of our trip!! Who can says they slept on a canal boat in London on their trip, definitely a memory maker!!
Wonderful experience and location for people new to London
Thanks so much for letting us stay at this property! I’ve stayed on a number of houseboats, and this was by far the most spacious and comfortable. You’ll have plenty of space - much more room than any hotel you’ll find, plus a lovely deck on the back with great views of the harbor and the Thames beyond.
For those who haven’t stayed on a houseboat before, fear not! This is just as convenient, clean, and roomy as a hotel or apartment, plus you have the romance of being on the water. The harbor is secure, and the neighbors are friendly. Noise is not a problem, and you’re very close to the Tower of London, the City, and lots of other tourist sites. You’re also close to the tube station and the Tower Bridge for easy access to the rest of the city. This is an ideal place for people who want a central location from which to explore both the East and West Ends.
I want to give an especial shout-out to Sara, the property manager, who was kind and responsive during our stay. Thanks again for a lovely time!
We weren't sure what to expect as we've never stayed on a boat before but we were all pleasantly surprised. Check-in process was easy, we had great communication with the host and Sara met us at the entrance of the docks to show us everything we needed to know regarding the in/out procedure with the dock and anything else regarding the boat. There are two bedrooms, each one on opposite sides of the boat. One bedroom has a queen bed and the other has two twin beds with a smaller bed between them that a small child can sleep on, the beds and linens were very comfortable. Kitchen seems big enough, has a mini refrigerator and small stovetop but is sufficient for a small family. Bathroom area was tight as well as the shower, I think shaving your legs would be difficult if not impossible. Other than that we were able to get full showers in every day and never run out of hot water and the water pressure was great. There are no bathroom amenities other than soap to wash your hands so you will need to bring your own shampoo/conditioner/body wash. It is a quiet area, we were never disturbed or woken up at night. 5 min walk to Tower Hill tube stop and there are restaurants and a coffee/pastry place right there at the docks. We would definitely stay here again without hesitation!
We just wrapped up nearly a week on the Dana and we were sad to leave. She's been a quirky and unforgettable cozy home during our stay.
As a family of four with two teens we had plenty of room, the bedrooms are on opposite ends of the boat so we plenty of privacy.
The conveniences are fully functional, the overall vibe is "lived in and causal"—not high end or luxe, which suited us. The kitchen has all you need kit wise but no sunrises—the Tesco Express nearby is decently stocked though and we made numerous meals. Laundry is easy to figure out but the dryer does take a good while, plan accordingly.
WiFi was fine with no issues; the TV looked nice but we didn't use it.
Tower Hill station is any easy walk and the location got us most everywhere we wanted in a half hour or 45 minutes. Of particular note is the proximity to the rapidly gentrifying south bank south across the Tower Bridge and the fabulously interesting east end, Brick Lane and Spitalfield Market are nearby. (Cannot speak highly enough of the Alternative London bike tour of street art, absolutely splendid.)
The only negative we could identify is that the harbor and boat are living boats with engines, there is a smell of fuel at times. It's in no way oppressive but if you are particularly sensitive please consult in case it's not a constant.
Nearby dining options are legion. The harbor is quiet and sheltered so our vague notion we might be woken by ship motors or horns was entirely unfounded.
Loved it.
We spent three nights on a boat in London! The boat had plenty of room for our family of four. There were plenty of restaurants and a grocery store nearby. My favorite part was enjoying a beer on the deck in the evening. We would love to stay again.
