La Taillade: 7 bed country house in idyllic location with pool, hot tub and A/C

La Taillade is a 19th century “maison de maitre” or country house in an idyllic rural setting. The house is surrounded by 4 acres of private land, meaning you can enjoy complete privacy here with no other houses in sight. There’s also minimal light pollution making it perfect for stargazing.

La Taillade is excellently equipped for both summer and winter stays. In the hot summer months the private pool, hot tub, extensive sunbathing terraces and shaded areas of the extensive grounds give a great outdoor experience while full air conditioning keeps the inside of the house cool. In the cooler winter months the hot tub is still available and the house's large indoor spaces including two lounge areas both with wood burning stoves create a beautifully cozy and relaxing atmosphere whatever the weather.

The swimming pool is open from 1st May to 30th September every year. The spa/hot tub is open all year round.

NEW FOR 2026 - we are renovating an attached barn to create a new gym and games room which should be ready by May 2026. The gym will include a treadmill, an exercise bike, an elliptical trainer, dumbbells, kettlebells, yoga mats and other equipment plus a large TV for streaming exercise classes etc. The games room will have a full size pool table. The House:

La Taillade sleeps 14 people in 7 bedrooms with 4 bath/shower rooms. The house has been extensively renovated and modernised in recent years and has all modern comforts including air conditioning to all rooms and ultrafast fibre Wi-Fi broadband.

On the ground floor you will find:

- a luxury kitchen with a breakfast island seating 8, 2 ovens, 2 fridge/freezers, 2 wine/drinks fridges, microwave, dishwasher, washer/dryer, nespresso machine and filter coffee machine

- a comfortable lounge with seats around a traditional woodburner and sofas around a 64” OLED smart TV with Orange TV channels, a Bein Sports (France) subscription and access for Netflix etc plus a surround sound audio system and a Nintendo Wii games console with a selection of modern and “retro” games.

- a vaulted dining room and "snug" which were renovated from a ruin in 2023. The dining area seats 14 and the snug seating area has a modern feature woodburner.

- a shower room with walk in shower, sink and toilet

- (From mid 2026) a brand new gym and games room. The gym will have a treadmill, exercise bike and elliptical trainer, dumbbell and kettlebell weights, yoga mats and other fitness equipment plus a large OLED TV for streaming exercise classes etc. The games room will have a full size pool table.


The First Floor has:

- the master bedroom with king size bed (160x200cm) and en-suite shower room with walk in shower, sink and toilet

- the second bedroom with superking size bed (180x200cm)

- the third bedroom with king size bed (160x200cm)

- the family bathroom with a huge oval bathtub and separate walk in shower, double sink and toilet

The Top (Second) Floor has:

- 4 double bedrooms (140x200cm beds).

- a shower room with walk in shower, double sink and toilet

The house is excellently equipped for families with young children with items available on request including stairgates at the top and bottom of both staircases, 2 travel cots, 2 high chairs, and a steam steriliser.

The Grounds:

One of the most beautiful features of La Taillade is the grounds and outdoor facilities.

The house is surrounded by 4 acres of lawns, fruit trees and woodland with neighbouring fields often planted with sunflowers Depending on when you visit you may find plums, apricots, apples, cherries, figs or hazelnuts on the trees.

At the front of the house there is a large terrace with sofa seating for 10 and a table and chairs for 6.

At the back of the house is a shaded terrace with dining seating for 14 and a large charcoal barbeque for relaxed outdoor dining.

The 12m x 5m heated salt water pool at the rear of the house provides a beautiful area to enjoy long sunny days. Alongside the pool are terraces with sun beds for 14 spread across both shaded and sunbathing areas and shaded sofa seating for 5. The pool is lit for evening and night time swimming. A luxury ‘Beachcomber’ 6 person hot tub is also provided for year-round therapeutic relaxation.

The lawns around the pool features an individual swing chair suspended from one of La Taillade’s many large mature trees and a large hammock. The whole rear garden area faces south giving day-long sunshine and overlooks a beautiful valley with uninterrupted views towards a village approx 3km away.

In addition to the pool area you will find various further outdoor activities around the grounds including a table tennis table, a boules/pétanque court, a badminton set, a basketball hoop and a giant "Jenga" tower game. For younger children we also have a large trampoline enclosed with a safety net.

The Surrounding Area:

A 15 minute drive takes you to the beautiful historic fortified hilltop town of Penne d’Agenais with several restaurants, a bar/micro-brewery ‘Brasserie Zebullin’ and art and craft shops. An Intermarche supermarket, a kids splashpark and canoe and boat hire on the beautiful and calm river Lot are also available at the edge of Penne.

The larger town of Villeneuve sur Lot is 25 minutes drive away with excellent retail outlets including a Leclerc hypermarket, large retail parks and a superb weekly market.

The city of Agen (40 minutes drive) has extensive shopping opportunities of all kinds along and around the pedestrianised Boulevard de la Republic and a very large retail park district at Boe.

The wider area has a huge range of attractions and activities (all between 10 and 45 minutes drive) including wine estates for tastings, the Villeneuve-sur-Lot Golf & Country Club, the Chateau de Stelsia offering spa treatments, restaurants and mini golf, and the historic 13th century Château de Bonaguil. There are numerous daytime markets and (in summer) evening “marche gourmand” dining markets. For the more adventurous, thrills can be found at the ‘Karting de Caudecoste’ indoor and outdoor go-karting circuits, the ‘Accrobranche’ aerial adventure course, the ‘Aqualand’ waterpark and the ‘Parc Walibi’/‘Walygator’ theme park.

You'll need a car to get around our local area, but getting to La Taillade is easy whether you're travelling by plane, train or car. There are three international airports in the area - Bergerac (1 hour drive), Toulouse (90 minutes drive) or Bordeaux (2 hours drive). A direct TGV train from Paris takes just over 3 hours to Agen which is a 40 minute drive from the house. The channel ports and Eurotunnel are all accessible in a day taking between 7 and 11 hours drive.

All in all, La Taillade offers everything you could want for a relaxing holiday - a superb location, excellent facilities and great local activities and attractions for every age group. Whether you just want to relax by the pool and enjoy the gardens or head out for more active days out you’ll find La Taillade a superb base. We hope you’ll visit soon.
