Our Place in Portland cosy cottage with amazing sea views

Come and stay at our cosy and charming Victorian stone cottage, located in the heart of Fortuneswell on the picturesque island of Portland. Situated within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the cottage boasts three floors and stunning views from the loft bedroom across the rooftops over the Jurassic Coast and Lyme Bay. The property is centrally located near local amenities and within walking distance of Chesil Beach. This makes it perfect for outdoor enthusiasts, as the area offers a wide range of activities such as sailing, water sports, hiking, climbing and bird watching.

Our beautiful cottage, built in 1870, has been lovingly restored. We have added a brand-new bathroom upstairs, and a spacious and well-lit bedroom in the loft. From this cosy and comfortable bedroom, you can enjoy the magnificent views of Lyme Bay, where sparkling blue waters meet the horizon in a breathtaking display of natural beauty.

As you enter a few steps into the entrance hall, you will come across a comfortable sitting room featuring a Fire TV and an assortment of board games. On the ground floor, you will also find a dining room equipped with an electric coal effect fire, perfect for a chilly day. You will also find a collection of books and tourist information brochures in this room. The dining room leads to a well-equipped kitchen, which includes a gas oven/grill and hob, a refrigerator with an ice compartment, a microwave, a toaster, and a kettle. Just off the kitchen is a utility area that houses a washing machine, a toilet and a washbasin. You can climb the original stairs to the first floor, where you will find a large bathroom containing a bath, a separate rain shower enclosure, and a heated towel rail/radiator. Along the landing, you will find the large front bedroom, which features a king-size bed and partial sea views. Additionally, on this level, you will find the third bedroom, which has twin beds and a hanging rail with hangers. If you go up another flight of stairs, you will reach the third-floor loft bedroom, which has a double bed. From the large window, you can enjoy far-reaching sea views. This room also has a TV with an Amazon Firestick.

The kitchen is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, pots, pans, mugs, and glasses for those who want to cook for themselves.

Due to the location and age of the property, the stairs may not be suitable for young children or those with mobility issues.

The dining room leads to a charming enclosed courtyard garden at the rear. Up a few steps, there is a washing line and enough space to dry wetsuits, swimwear, kayaks or bikes. This area can also be accessed through a lockable back gate. Inside the house, you will find an airer, an iron, and an ironing board. To the front, there is a walled patio/courtyard, which is a delightful sun trap.

There is full central heating throughout and hot water on demand.
