Good location in typically small cottage. Close to many things and 45 mins from everywhere else. Good host and well appointed accommodation with a nice little garden for children to play in. Pub 50 yards away.
Fijne schone cottage.

Pristine cottage in a beautiful part of the Moors
Location is everything, and Gillamoor is convenient for so many villages and larger towns. The cottage is pristine and very well equipped, there was nothing we needed. Our stay happened to coincide with glorious spring weather, so we took advantage of the lovely little garden and outdoor furniture. Will definitely be coming back.

Splendid New Year's Break
My wife and I spent 3 lovely quiet nights at The Cottage including New Year's Eve. The cottage is spotlessly clean and well equipped. The owners also provided a number of extra touches and it is very well presented overall. We enjoyed the log burner immensely but was pleased to find the central heating system is excellent also. We didn't get chance to use the garden due to the weather but it would be great for a BBQ in the summer. Gillamoor is ideally situated to explore the North Yorkshire Moors and other surrounding areas. If the bath were replaced with a walk in shower this would be a 5 star rating which is the only constructive criticism we could muster. Great place to stay.

cosy cottage in a lovely location
We were impressed as soon as we set foot in the house. Cosy, clean and all the things provided to make our stay perfect. The lovely welcome basket was much appreciated as well as the milk on the fridge. Claire popped round to make sure we had settled in ok and we had, it felt like home from home. The garden was perfect for enjoying the sunshine until late evening. Thank you for making our stay a happy one. We really hope to return.

The Cottage. Lovely, well-appointed, good location and a warm welcome too.
Three of us stayed in The Cottage for a week in September 2016 and had a really great time. We chose it over others we were considering because it looked more spacious and had a lot of character, and we did not regret our choice. Parking was really easy, always available just outside the door. The cottage was spotless, the shower was hot and strong, the kitchen was very well equipped and it was lovely to have a nice bit of garden too. The beds were really comfy and the seating in the lounge was just right to curl up in. We had a really warm welcome from Claire and a welcome hamper too (I'm afraid the wine and biscuits didn't last very long!). The Royal Oak, just around the corner, had excellent meals (we ate there 3 times!) and it was nice to get back to a warm, cosy cottage. The village was so quiet we heard owls at night. It's location meant we easily visited the moors, Robin Hood's Bay, Castle Howard and even managed a trip to Edinburgh and back. There were plenty of leaflets with lots of information on local facilities, as well as Claire's own information file, which was ideal. We would certainly consider staying again, and would heartily recommend it to friends and relatives.

Relaxing break in North Yorkshire
A beautiful cottage in the village of Gillamoor in North Yorkshire. The cottage is quaint, well looked after and has all the little extra's you need. A modern kitchen, garden, a cosy lounge with wood fire burner. A lovely welcome pack from Claire and Mark. Perfectly situated for the coast, Helmsley, Pickering and The Moors.

A very tidy, well maintained cottage
We had a great stay in this cottage, the bed was so comfy, the owners welcoming and flexible, the cottage is kitted out with all you could wish for and more...we couldn't fault it. We visited Castle Howard and made use of the free pass to Dalby forest supplied by the owners. We had a couple of meals in the pub just around the corner - very good and reasonably priced too.
We cannot wait to return and have booked again for autumn.

Cottage Gillamoor
A lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful location. We had a wonderful stay that was made even more special by the thoughtful touches on arrival - an Easter egg hunt round the house, tasteful decorations and a complimentary basket. The house is well equipped and very clean. Highly recommended.

About the host
Hosted by Claire Franklin
We just love the area, both of us were brought up locally and we love telling guests the best areas to visit. We’ve successfully been letting the cottage since 2011.
Why they chose this property
The cottage will be our retirement home, we live locally in tied accommodation which we will need to leave when the job finishes. We are local people who have lived here all our lives.
What makes this property unique
Gillamoor is such a lovely village, close enough to big towns but far enough away to be quiet and have sparrows in the garden and the barn owl hunting locally.
