Region: From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain’s best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.

Town: Fortrose is a small town on the south coast of the Black Isle, between Avoch and Rosemarkie, with many Victorian buildings and the remains of a cathedral dating from 1250AD. Fortrose has a small selection of shops, a few tearooms and restaurants, and a pretty harbour reached by narrow twisting roads. Fortrose is a great touring base, only 16 miles from the city of Inverness, and also within wonderfully easy reach of the dolphin-friendly Moray Firth, sandy beaches, great golf courses and the spectacular scenery of the Highlands.

Great stay

Lovely, warm clean cottage with awesome amenities. No washer but we worked around that. Great location. Lovely views and horses all about.Goggle maps took us to the farm next door, but we saw the milk house sign after a second trip up the hill.Host was very lovely and amazing welcome gifts were enjoyed very much.Would not hesitate to recommend this for your stay.

Better Than Expected – A Hidden Gem on the Black Isle

The holiday apartment exceeded the listing – even better in real life! We felt at home from the moment we arrived and enjoyed a truly relaxing stay. Although located on a horse farm, you’d hardly notice unless you glance out the window – where you're rewarded with a stunning view of the pasture, the Moray Firth, and the Inverness bridge.The flat is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay; the only thing we missed was a washing machine ;-) . There’s a private parking space, and of course, the hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming.The Black Isle offers peace and quiet, along with plenty of opportunities to explore nature. Major attractions are about 45 to 60 minutes away by car, and the scenic drives make it well worth it.
