About this property

Traditional stone house for 8 in a working olive grove — 2 hrs from Athens

Two hours from Athens, ten minutes from the sea, a world away. The Stone House is our family's traditional village house in the olive groves of Ambelos, above Akrata — thick stone walls, blue shutters, shaded courtyards, and 135 m² of unhurried space. Where most rentals look outward, this one draws you in: the walled garden, the long table, the grove at every window.

THE HOUSE
The master has a king bed with premium linens and its own private entry to the patio and garden — wake up, open the door, and you're among the trees. The loft holds a double bed (cot available for the little one), with steps down to the living room, where an old hearth anchors the space and a single bed fits one more. The garden room sleeps three, beside the fully equipped kitchen — and just outside it, the outdoor oven, for fresh bread or pizza the way the village has always made it. One bathroom with washing machine. Sleeps 8 plus a baby. It's a real village house: thick cool walls, rooms that connect in old ways, character over uniformity.

OUTSIDE
It's all yours: the courtyards and walled garden, BBQ and bread oven, the children's playground, free parking, and the olive grove all around — 150 trees, a working family farm. And one secret worth knowing from day one: walk up the steps behind the house and you'll find a hidden lookout over the Gulf of Corinth, yours alone. A hideout inside the Hideout.

THE PLACE
Akrata's beaches are 2.5 km below (do your shopping on the way up). Lake Tsivlou and the fir forests are up the mountain road; the rack railway and Kalavryta's ski centre about an hour; the ancient theatre of Aigeira along the coast — this shoreline appears in Homer. Open all four seasons: wildflowers, sea, olive harvest, snow on the peaks. Pet-friendly — this house has always had animals around it. Room to work remotely, or to gather for family celebrations.

HOSTS
We're a family — real hosts, not a management company. Your key is in the door, and we live nearby: minutes away when you need us, invisible when you don't.

About the host

Hosted by Irena

Host profile image
We're a family, and this hillside is our family's home — the olive groves of Ambelos have been ours for generations, and the Stone House is the oldest heart of it: a real village house, not an investment. Irena looks after you: everything you need arrives before you do, your key is waiting in the door, and if you need anything send us a message and we will be there.

Why they chose this property

We didn't choose it — it chose us, generations back. But we've stayed for reasons any guest can taste in a day: the Gulf of Corinth below, Chelmos and its fir forests behind, beaches ten minutes one way and an alpine lake up the road the other. This shoreline is in Homer; the theatre at Aigeira has watched the same sea for over two thousand years. It's peace and nature — with three millennia of stories underneath.

What makes this property unique

It's the real thing: a traditional stone-built village house inside a working olive grove of 150 trees, with courtyards, a walled garden, an outdoor bread oven — and a hidden lookout over the Gulf up the steps behind the house, yours alone. Guests tell us it's "a cosy traditional house with a touch of art." Families spread out here: eight beds, a playground, a garden the kids can't escape, and a dog welcome to join. Two hours from Athens, ten minutes from the sea, and every autumn the harvest still happens around you.
