The Neighborhood:

Cinnamon Cottage is located in the historic market town of Barnard Castle. Featured within the Guardian’s ‘10 of the UK’s best small towns’, there is something for everyone here. If you love to shop, the town has many antique shops so treasure seekers will be in their element. There are still small independent stores which you wouldn’t see on the average high street. Take your pick of restaurants, cafes and pubs which serve lovely home-made food.

If you fancy some live entertainment whilst you’re away, check out The Witham to see which performances, films or exhibitions will be available when you visit.

Whilst there are lots of lovely walks to be done straight from the property, there is easy access to the 12th century castle with great views over the Tees Gorge. You can try to spot Richard III’s boar emblem carved above the window in the inner ward or explore the sensory garden. The ruins of Egglestone Abbey are also within walking distance. The Bowes Museum is just a short stroll away and it is a lovely place to picnic after you’ve viewed the art collection.

The cottage was great, all you would need for a good relaxing holiday, we did have a problem with the boiler on arrival but that was quickly sorted out by the agency, in all the cottage was perfect for our needs, the only down side was the fact we had our car keyed outside the cottage, but I suppose that could happen anywhere!

Thank you for your lovely review. We’re so pleased to hear the cottage had everything you needed for a relaxing holiday and that it was perfect for your stay. We do apologise again for the boiler issue on arrival, but we’re glad our team was able to resolve it quickly for you. We’re very sorry to hear about the incident with your car — that must have been frustrating. As you mentioned, unfortunately it’s something that can happen anywhere, but we completely understand how disappointing that would have been. Thank you again for your kind comments, and we hope to welcome you back in the future.
