About this property
'Tilly Cottage' Homely 2 bedroom stone property, Co Durham. Pet friendly.
Our stone terraced property, "Tilly Cottage", offers comfortable, well-equipped & homely 2 bedroom accommodation for up to 4 people (2 double beds)
Tucked away on a quiet terrace in the village of Evenwood, which is situated midway between Barnard Castle and Bishop Auckland (approx 15 minutes drive to both) it offers a great value break. Explore the Durham Dales, Hamsterley Forest, Raby Castle, Bowes Museum, High Force, Locomotion Railway Museum, Beamish & Durham City, all within easy reach.
Tilly Cottage offers a great value get away for up to 4 people. It has a well equipped 'cottage style' kitchen with large range cooker, dishwasher, fridge freezer and microwave. A utility room with washing machine and a place to store bikes. The living/dining room is open plan, with comfortable seating and a dining table for 4. There is wifi and Freesat TV channels available. Gas central heating and hot-water on demand.
Upstairs you will find 2 double bedrooms (each has a double bed) one with an additional small dressing and seating area, a large bathroom with a fab walk-in shower and a roll-top slipper bath, perfect for along soak!
We provide bed linen and towels, tea towels and a hair drier.
To the front of the cottage is an enclosed garden, to the rear is a small enclosed yard.
Whilst not in a 'pictureque tourist' village (Evenwood was part of the coalmining heritage of this area) the cottage offers very comfortable and homely accommodation, and is within easy reach of all tourist activities, including Raby Castle, High Force Waterfall, Auckland Castle, the Kynren Light and Sound performance, Locomotion railway Museum, the Durham Dales, Stanhope Steam railway, Beamish Living History Museum, Durham City, and the town of Barnard Castle with its amazing array of quirky shops and eateries, plus the Castle and the amazing Bowes Museum.
Other things to note
We accept one well behaved dog, but please note pets are not allowed upstairs or on the furniture. There is an extra pet charge of £10 per stay.
Please note that the lane leading to Tilly Cottage is 'unadopted' and is a little uneven. Parking is on the lower end of 'The Green' and the walk to the property is less than a minute from there. (It is possible to unload outside the property but access for a car is narrow)
