Great location and comfortable, clean place to stay. Enjoyed morning coffee on the front porch. Claire was a pleasure to work with and very responsive.
Husband and I in town for family event-3 night stay. Very comfortable accommodations. Great host – very knowledgeable about the city -places to visit and dining in the area. highly recommend.
This place is absolutely charming. We loved all the New Orleans books and restaurant recommendations. If you forget any toiletries, this place is well stocked. The owner is onsite and very friendly. We loved walking to Audubon Park and sitting on the front porch.
Our hostess Claire was just so sweet! She had everything we needed, coffee, real creamer, small frig, wine glasses and even brought us snacks!! The home is tiny but so comfortable. We loved sitting on the porch in the evening. We went with dear friends so the shared bathroom was not an issue for us. Just be aware that you have to walk through one bedroom to go through the bathroom to reach the second bedroom. The neighborhood was very quiet and located just outside the hustle and bustle of the city. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property. Thank you Claire for our gifts! Want a perfect reminder of our Super Bowl weekend!
An Abundantly Charming Stay, with a Touch of Old Southern Heritage
I recently spent a delightful stay at Claire’s lovely home in New Orleans. The house itself is charming, featuring beautiful furnishings and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Claire goes above and beyond as a consummate host: she’s incredibly knowledgeable about all things NOLA—from local eateries and music venues to city history you’d never find in a guidebook. If you’re interested in immersing yourself in the traditional side of New Orleans, you’ve come to the right place.Location and Convenience:•The home is within easy walking distance of the streetcar, so getting around the city without a car was a breeze.•We noticed that parking would have been simple and hassle-free if we had chosen to rent a car—ample space and no confusing restrictions.New Orleans Roots:•Claire’s family traces back to old New Orleanian roots, complete with plantation-era lineage. She’s active in several women’s social clubs and you might even find an application for a Mardi Gras Krewe on the end table.Overall, I would wholeheartedly recommend Claire’s place for travelers seeking a quintessential New Orleans experience.
Great location! Convenient to Whole Foods, shops and restaurants. Quiet neighborhood, and great front porch to sit and relax. Clean, great layout and perfect for couples with another guest
We have stayed in many locations around New Orleans. This is a great location, vintage feel, quality hospitality, and a great choice for a couple or small family.
The property was very comfortable and very nice. I love the antique vibe with the high ceilings. It was very tastefully decorated and the bathroom was wonderful. Then there was the relaxing front porch with wonderful rockers. The neighborhood was very friendly with people walking their pets.
Mrs Claire was the best hostess. So friendly and eager to share her wealth of knowledge about her fair city with us. She added an extra dimension to our trip. She treated us like family which is so rare these days.
I highly recommend her home.
Claire is a lovely host and her home was perfect! She has everything we could ask for and even some things we forgot (ie. fans & sound machine). The house is easy walking distance to Magazine st., a cute bookstore, and the St. Charles street car. The neighborhood is really quiet and the perfect place to enjoy coffee on the porch. I would definitely stay here again.
This was our second time to stay in Claire’s beautiful home. Claire is so friendly and knowledgeable about all things NOLA! The location is so convenient, and we feel really safe and comfortable there. We will definitely be back for a third visit!
Nice location and easy access to Tulane and good restaurants nearby. Easy street parking. Comfortable beds. Nice hostess. My only heads up is that there is no kitchen and the second bedroom is reached through a shared bathroom.
That all works for me - but maybe not for all guests that could stay here.
Stay here, look no further. Lovely, Clean, convenient, perfect!
Excellent communication with the host, promptly addressed any questions or concerns, provided tips and recommendations for food, activities, and history of the area. Host is a New Orleanian with plenty of helpful information and suggestions during our stay.
Nice quiet neighborhood with a chance to enjoy the street car a fee blocks away and Uptown/Garden/Quarter a few minutes away.
This rental is ideally located in a safe & attractive neighborhood--a short walk to Magazine St, with grocery & drug stores, boutiques & restaurants just around the corner, & convenient to the St. Charles streetcar & Audubon Park. I've visited N.O. many times, intentionally staying in different areas of the city. As far as location, comfort, & convenience, this is as good as it gets.
It was the perfect place for my sister & me in June. Each morning we sipped coffee on the front porch & planned our daily activities while watching neighbors walk their dogs along the shady street. After long hot days exploring the city, we looked forward to returning to the cool & quiet refuge of “Uptown Enchantment” & another peaceful night in our large, luxurious bedrooms (with TVs & walk-in closets in each)!
The sitting room was cozy & comfortable. In one corner a small refrigerator, microwave, & coffee maker functioned as a makeshift kitchen. This area & the bathroom were generously stocked with supplies. All rooms were beautifully decorated with authentic photos & memorabilia reflecting N.O. history & culture. We enjoyed consulting the guidebooks, maps, & sample menus. I especially appreciated the collection of literature by local authors & books focused on N.O.
Our host Claire was exceptional. A native of N.O., she shared insider tips well beyond the typical tourist itinerary & made every effort to ensure that we enjoyed our stay in her hometown--and we did! Thank you, Claire!
Nice area and very hospitable host. Was surprised upon arrival that one of the bedrooms is only accessible walking through the other bedroom via the shared bathroom.
Great location and exceptional host. beautiful and safe area close to Magazine and all the food and shops in the area. Coffee shops, Pilates, massage and more within walking distance of home.
I’ve been to New Orleans many times. Our stay with Claire was my favorite, by far! Her rental has everything needed for a comfortable stay. She is so thoughtful and gracious! We stayed with our 1 year old and our 4 year old daughters, who loved hanging out on the porch and going for wagon rides to the park near by. The neighborhood is so nice, and quiet! Yards are well kept, and they have off duty officers available if you need anything, which definitely made us more comfortable when traveling with our littles. Both of the beds are comfortable, and each room had a fan which was fantastic for our family because we like to sleep with loud fans to drown out any noise (even though we didn’t need them bc the neighborhood was so quiet!) Parking was convenient; right on the street, next to the home. Claire was very responsive, helpful, and I definitely plan on returning for a visit with just my husband for an adult getaway! I am so glad we chose to stay at this charming home!
Couples trip to NOLA. We had a great time, once we figured out the trolley ticket and pickup location it was a breeze. Accommodations were clean and the beds were super comfortable. We loved the front porch and relaxed out on it in the evenings. We would love to come back and stay!

About the host
Hosted by Claire Stockton
I have owned this home for 22yrs. I enjoy my poodles and do fostering for Creole Poodle Rescue. New Orleans is my birthplace and may have gone away to Ole Miss (University of Mississippi) for college, but as a typical New Orleanian, always come back. I went to school in the Garden District and know New Orleans well. Happy to share my knowledge of the city as a local.
Why they chose this property
This property is a located in the heart of Uptown with many opportunities that are in walking distance of fun shopping, dining & parks. I wanted to have a real neighborhood where everyone knows your name like the show "Cheers" or at least your dog's name. I grew up in another part of town and when looking to buy, this was the right size and perfect. I love my house and my neighbors and they look out for everyone. I sit on my porch or stand on my corner and watch the world go by. It's been amazing to see it morph as new families have moved in and added their own touches to the homes, but kept the integrity of the old New Orleans charm & appeal.
What makes this property unique
There's a great porch to sit, visit & relax on as you sip your cup of coffee and eat a doughnut or have an appetizer & wine. Natives call it sitting on the stupe. You can watch the sunrise too. The front 2 rooms have plantation shutters that allow natural sunlight to come in during the day and 12ft ceilings which before air condition helped the hot air to rise and fans and transom windows above the doors to circulate the air. The house has beautiful old gas fireplaces and pocket doors. The bathroom is more modern and attractively done with new marble counter top.
