Glorious house

We had a wonderfully relaxing week in this beautifully spacious property. We spent much time relaxing in the garden using the pool and lunching under the various trees which provided ample shade. There is also a very attractive terrace with a large table and ample seating together with umbrellas for shade. Jean Charles met us at the property and gave us a warm and friendly welcome. He is a kind and considerate host and his home is beautifully designed and comfortable. It’s very well equipped and we had everything we needed. We used the bikes to cycle along the canal path into La Rochelle and enjoyed the short walk to the local boulangerie to buy morning croissants. We enjoyed everything this house has to offer!

The house was lovely, comfortable and homely and as described.

We had a lovely stay in this comfortable house in La Rochelle. It was a , as described , a 10 minute drive to the beautiful town . It was spacious and well equipped including bikes which were great for getting around. It did mention in description of the house that towels were provided but in fact there weren t. We were informed by owners the day before we arrived. This was disappointing as we had to bring towels for 7 people and we were flying and the extra weight that entailed. My main concern was when we were asked for a deposit if 1000 euro, again, just 2 days before we arrived. We have rented many houses over the years and the deposit has always been included in a breakdown of costs of rental of property and its usually around 10% of cost.There had been no mention of deposit in rental costs on webpage. The owners did accept a personal cheque on arrival which was returned on departure. Another extra cost that we were not informed of at any point til we arrived at the house was a tourist tax of 1euro per person per day for persons over 18. I have no problem paying this tax, but it should also have been mentioned in rental costs. In effect the owners waived this when we queried it . We did have a lovely time and the house , garden and pool were great . My main criticism is that the entire cost of the renta[ should be transparent and clear before booking.

Le problème vient du fait que je ne vous ai pas envoyé le contrat car celui ci est en Français. Je note que vous n' avez posé aucune question et qu' il est habituel de donner une caution lors d' une location celle ci ayant été diminuée de moitié . De plus , nous avons été très fairplay dans la mesure ou nous vous avons fait cadeau de la taxe imposée par la ville de La Rochelle alors que vous aviez été prévenue dès votre arrivée. votre réaction ne nous incite pas à louer à des anglosaxons. Wir waren 10 Tage im Juli in dem Ferienhaus. Es war sauber und umfangreich ausgestattet und sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Die Übergabe der Schlüssel bei An- und Abreise war problemlos und alle weiteren Fragen wurden schnell und freundlich beantwortet. Wir waren zwei Familien mit je zwei Kids im Alter von 12 und 15 Jahren und 1 Hund. Die Lage des Hauses ist ebenfalls top: sehr guter Bäcker zu Fuß in 5 Minuten, weitere Einkaufsmöglichkeiten mit Rad oder Auto in der Nähe und auch die Innenstadt ist perfekt mit dem Rad zu erreichen. Insgesamt sind wir sehr zufrieden und können das Haus auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen!

La maison et la dépendance sont très agréables et bien agencées. Le jardin est très joli et calme. Pour profiter au maximum de la piscine il faut quelques jours de soleil pour la réchauffer sinon elle est très bien. Notre hote est fort sympathique. la maison est proche du port et de la vielle ville 10 mn en voiture. Agréable séjour. Merci Jean-Charles

We hebben een heerlijke week gehad in het fijne huis van Jean-Charles. La Rochelle is een leuke, soms ook drukke badplaats. Genoeg te doen en te zien. Het huis en de bijbehorende tuin zelf waren schoon, gezellig en volledig. Er zijn veel verschillende zitjes dus als je genoeg hebt van je reisgenoten, kun je je goed even afzonderen. Communicatie met de eigenaar verliep soepel ook al spreken we niet heel goed Frans. Ook heel fijn dat er fietsen waren waarmee je makkelijk naar bijv. het centrum kan fietsen.

Néanmoins la location nous semblait un peu bizarre, c'était vraiment agréable pour faire des visites dans la région et tout calme dans le jardin. Tout près des magazins, de l'autoroute et aussi facile pour faire une promenade a la ville de La Rochelle. Agréable acceuil par le propriétaire et belle maison prévu pour 4 couples sans soucis.

Lovely family home

A lovely family home which easily accommodated our family of 7 adults. Well appointed and comfortable. We stayed during the heatwave, but we found the bedrooms really hot especially at night so some fans would have been really useful. Very helpful host. Easy half hour walk into La Rochelle. We found a gem of a restaurant only 10 minutes walk away (La Goul’beun Aise) which was very authentically French, although they don’t answer emails or FB messages so visit to book.

un séjour parfait!

Pour résumer notre séjour, convivialité des propriétaires, propreté irréprochable, confort de la maison. L'environnement immédiat n'est pas des plus idylliques mais la porte franchie, on se retrouve dans un petit paradis intimiste, ambiance chaleureuse, reflet des propriétaires adorables. De plus, on est à seulement 10 min en vélo du centre historique, et de commerces de proximité ce qui facilite la vie pendant les vacances. Seul regret, ne pas avoir prolongé mon séjour.

Au top !

Nous avons passé de très agréables vacances dans cette très belle villa. Beaux volumes, trois chambres avec deux salles de bains+ une chambre dans l'annexe avec sdb privée, équipements au top, on s'y sent hyper bien dès l'arrivée. Les propriétaires sont adorables et tellement attachants, que du bonheur de rencontrer de telles belles personnes. De plus, cette villa est proche de tout sans être dans le tumulte du centre de la Rochelle donc au calme, ce que nous adorons. A recommander sans hésitation. Merci à JC et Patricia :-)

Fantastic Holiday Home

Thank you Patricia and Jean-Charles for letting us stay in your home. Your welcome on our arrival was really friendly and you walked us through everything that we needed to know which enabled us to settle in very quickly. We all had a fantastic stay in your extremely spacious house - as well as a large lounge there was an equally as large room facing the garden. Having 3 bathrooms between 6 adults was perfect. It's located very near the main town - 10 minutes by bike to the old port of La Rochelle - all catered for by a cycle path running by the canal. A very well equipped house which included the use of the bikes which were great for getting around. The pool was very well used by us all and the garden provided plenty of shade if we required it.
