About this property
Sparrows Nest Yanwath - a lodge sleeping 6 plus 2 dogs
Located just 1 mile south of Penrith, renowned as the gateway to the Lakes, Yanwath offers a tranquil retreat only 4 miles from the stunning Lake Ullswater. This peaceful setting serves as an ideal escape for those in search of a quiet holiday surrounded by the natural splendour of the Lake District.
The nearby market town of Penrith, a brief 5-minute drive away, features an array of charming boutique shops, restaurants, and cafes. Despite Yanwath's peaceful ambiance away from the lively Lake Ullswater, it remains conveniently accessible, allowing visitors to reach lakeside establishments within a short drive.
While exploring Lake Ullswater, take a leisurely stroll through quaint villages and hamlets, each offering distinct attractions like art galleries and pubs with local microbreweries serving ales. Extend your adventure beyond Kirkstone Pass, where the vibrant towns of Windermere and Ambleside beckon, both less than an hour's drive away.
Glendowlin Lodge Park is an ideal destination for year-round getaways, providing a serene haven amidst breathtaking surroundings. Guests can easily access the fells, partake in horseback riding, or engage in water sports at nearby sailing clubs, all just a few minutes' drive from the cosy lodge.
The lodge, accessed via 37 shallow steps, offers sweeping views over the park to the distant mountains. It remains warm and inviting with electric heating and a wood-burning stove. The open-plan lounge/kitchen/dining area features comfortable seating around the stove and a Smart TV, while patio doors lead to the decking, perfect for relaxing with a morning coffee or watching children play in the garden. Prepare delicious meals in the well-equipped kitchen with modern amenities including electric oven, hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave.
There is a master double bedroom with king size bed and en-suite shower room, an additional double and bunk bedroom, and a separate bathroom with a shower over the bath.
All electric, bed linen, towels and an initial supply of logs are provided. Private parking for 2 cars, a cot and a highchair are available. The lodge's spacious garden, set into the hillside, provides a peaceful spot for a picnic or enjoying a glass of wine while observing the neighbouring sheep.
PLEASE NOTE: This cottage has parking for 2 cars or 1 small van only, there is no additional parking on the site. Guests with additional vehicles will be asked to remove them from the site.
