Arrived in the dark.

Arrived in the dark. Next morning woke to sun streaming in through front door, coffee in the garden with the sea just beyond the picket fence. Idyllic.

Absolutely beautiful spotlessley clean cottage in a very scenic spot.

Absolutely beautiful spotlessley clean cottage in a very scenic spot.Looking over the solway firth and the lighthouse while having breakfast in the conservatory was fantastic. The owner Lorna is a lovely lady and she has thought of absolutely everything to make the cottage as comfortable as possible. The kitchen is large and is an absolute joy to cook in and has absolutely every utensil you could possibly need. The cottage is so warm and cosy and heats up very quickly, we were very lucky to have mild weather but i would imagine in the depths of winter it will still be cosy as you have the bonus of two log burners. We were fortunate on the weekend we arrived that the chip shop and local hotel were still opened so we made use of them both. The fish and chips was excellent and we had a meal in the paul jones hotel on the Saturday night, not fancy but good wholesame pub grub.We went back for a drink on Sunday afternoon and the log fire was roaring so it was lovely. Loads to do in the area and you don't have to drive too far, Loch Arthur farm shop is an absolute must, we bought a lot of stuff to bring home and also had our lunch which was absolutely delicious. Criffel is a must if you like hillwalking. You can walk either left or right on the beach directly from the cottage but be sure to check the tide times. One of the best accommodation we have stayed in.Thanks Lorna for the very generous welcome pack.Margo and Brian xx
