Secluded Garden Cabin Located on the Bourbeuse River
This a working historical farm property from the 1850's with River Cabins on the Bourbeuse River. It ws first established by Deitrich Voss as a grist mill though sadly the mill has since burned to the ground and is gone forever. The beautiful stone house remains and is visible from the cabins on the river. I love to talk about the history of the property and am happy to share it with any guest who asks. It's all very scenic and quiet. These cabins have "outdoor showers" and outhouses. There are no indoor bathroom facilities. That said, the cabins are very comfortable and cozy with full kitchens and nice decor, a/c and heated water. You'll feel like you're staying in a lovely hotel room with camping amenities.. There's so much to do in the area for those who seek some adventure. We have canoeing at the outfit across the way, great fishing out your backdoor, hiking and all kinds of antiquing and wineries to visit. Very small town and quaint. This property is unique, a once in a lifetime experience to share with family and friends.

This was a fun and convenient place to get away from STL for the weekend! Beautiful scenery and comfy stay in a quaint little cabin. We will definitely be back.
We had a wonderful stay here! The river is right outside your window, a beautiful view!! The owners couldn’t have been more accommodating, they were great!! The outdoor shower was awesome...everyone should shower outside at least once in thier lifetime! Highly recommend for a relaxing getaway:)
this is such a cozy and welcoming place. The farm animals are so sweet. The river is absolutely beautiful and I would try the devils back float across the street. The Lydia's market in Lyons has some really good meats. Definitely will be bring family back next time!

Clean, well equipped cabin for a quiet time off the grid. Great outdoor spaces and access to the river. Owners were very friendly and accommodating. Visits by the friendly animals were a great bonus!
What a wonderful place to spend time on the river or taking in local sites, property full of so much history, owners very nice and accommodating, everything we needed including in cottage, loved the outside shower! Already looking forward to returning!!
The cabin was adorable, comfortable, well stocked and clean. Great access to riverfront for sunbathing and swimming (don’t let the dam deter you, it’s very peaceful). Across the street is a family-run canoe/ kayak/ float biz which was super convenient. Shared porta- potties, but they are SO clean with lights, t.p., and hand sanitizer dispensers. The outdoor shower was envigorating. Awesome hospitality and we will be back again.

I’m sorry you had a negative first impression. Sometimes when you’re not used to the country things don’t feel like home if you’re not used to it. We are a farm and this is home to our rescued animals and 17 acres gives them the freedom to roam happily and without restriction of being leashed. It’s why I had to tell you we can’t allow other pets/animals to visit. I try to be up front about our situation here and really, you’re the first to not enjoy it. I guess it’s not for everyone.
As to any smell in the cabin, probably disinfectant and fresh country air. Everything is scrubbed, disinfected and all linens, sheets, towels and surfaces are thoroughly cleaned. I know that for a fact because I do it myself to make sure it’s done right.
Happy trails to you and yours.
This was such a peaceful, beautiful and such an amazing place to stay. I would recommend it for the ones who love the outdoors!
