Charming historic property in Kyoto with modern amenities and a wonderful host. Solene, the property manager, was kind and extremely helpful. Would definitely stay in this machiya again and highly recommend it!

Amazing space, all the conveniences you need and more for what you didn’t think you’d need! They thought of it all. Super convenient location, quiet and comfortable. Next time we come to Kyoto, we will look to book here again!

This was a lovely traditional Japanese home with easy access to bus and shopping. The property is well maintained and spacious. Our only complaints were that the front bedroom is right on the street side and a bit noisy. We were also there during the heat of the summer and that room was very warm. If you have only 6 people, the other rooms are well air conditioned and lovely. The water pressure in the showers is amazing, and it was super convenient to be able to wash clothes in the included washing machine!

5 nights in Kyoto

It was a treat to stay in this beautiful home. We were finally able to eat in and enjoy being together, instead of splitting into 3 hotel rooms. The showers had great water pressure and the toilets are modern. My biggest disappointment was sleeping on the floor on a futon, which I haven't done for decades. I'm recovering from a torn calf muscle, so stairs are difficult and getting off the floor was difficult. The Wash-Dry machine doesn't really dry well, but there was a heat wave so we hung our clothes to dry outside.Rooms & beds4 bedrooms (sleeps 9)Bedroom 13 Twin BedsBedroom 22 Twin BedsBedroom 32 Twin BedsBedroom 42 Twin Beds

We had a wonderful stay in Kyoto. I wanted an authentic experience and that was exactly what we got. The home was beautiful and close to restaurants, cafes and grocery stores. Uber is so convenient in Kyoto that we were able to get everywhere quickly. The home had everything we needed, but not everything we were used to (coming from the USA), but that was exactly what I wanted my 13 year old son to experience.

Thank you so much, Jennifer! It was a real pleasure hosting you and your family. Reading your review made us smile, especially knowing that this trip was a meaningful experience for your son. That's exactly the kind of memory we hope our guests take home with them. We'd be delighted to welcome you back anytime you're in Kyoto. Wishing you and your family all the best until then!
