Kyoto is famous for having been the ancient capital of Japan, dating back over 1200 years. The sheer beauty of the temples, shrines, gardens and culture imbued within, makes Kyoto one of the most revered places in the world.
Kiyomizu Bettei is one unit of Kyo Machiya Miyabi in Kiyomizu area, a big Kyoto traditional house.
Kiyomizu Bettei is being meticulously preserved with the traditional techniques that have been handed down over the centuries. While sticking to tradition is important for the architect, updating the facilities, such as a nice bathroom, high-tech toilet, kitchen, heating floor, air condition , wifi, are just as important to meet the present day needs of our selective clientele. The delicate balance between 'old and new' is what sets this apart.
You can see the large courtyard from the living room.

Kiyomizu Bettei is at the foot of Kiyomizu Temple, which has been designated a World Cultural Heritage, and is very convenient for visiting by walking distance many others famous temples, shrines, downtown, and Gion, the most famous Geisha district!

Enjoy Kyoto and the distinctive features of the local townhomes by staying in a real Machiya, feeling the natural way of living and the change of seasons which distinguishes Kyoto 's culture and its people.

City buses or rental bikes can take you to most famous sites in Kyoto within 30 minutes.

This home was perfect for our family of 8. The futons were incredibly comfortable to sleep on and the bathrooms were great. It was in a very convenient location, which allowed us to explore all over the city. The convenience store is just a block away and a larger grocery store is about 3 blocks away, a very easy walk. The house was very nice and a good mix of amenities in a more traditional style home. Also, a nice touch for cold days/nights is that the floors are heated. The hosts are very attentive, and even provided directions to show the taxi from Kyoto Station, which were very helpful. We we completely satisfied and very comfortable here!

Beautiful home design in a perfect location at the base of kiomizu temple. Tatami mats were surprisingly comfortable to sleep on and improved our japan experience! Easy walk out of the door to visit tons of temples and easy to catch the bus to Kyoto train station. Lots of restaurants and convenience stores just steps away. Owners were very responsive and helpful! They provide maps and have books of local sights of interest which are very helpful!

The house was very nice and clean, everything are new for us to use and the services provided were excellent as well. Hope that I can come again soon!
