The villa was amazing from start to finish! Rena met us at the villa for check-in and was extremely helpful with arranging drivers and restaurant reservations. The location is great… a very short walk to lots of restaurants, shopping, etc. The villa itself is great… very spacious for our family of 6, and we had so much fun in the pool relaxing and admiring the incredible views! Would highly recommend!!

The views and location were truly amazing…just like a dream. The only thing better was Christina, she is an absolute treasure, nothing was too much trouble and her breakfasts were out of this world. She arranged everything with no fuss and made excellent recommendations
What a beautiful location with a stunning view of the caldera and sunsets. The house was perfect for our group of 8, with room to spare. The property manager was gracious and welcoming and very responsive to all of our needs. Would definitely stay again with a large group. I would say this home could accommodate up to 10 comfortably.

We stayed at Villa Murat for 2 nights and I must say- what an incredible property it is. Location is eofect but most importantly, the hospitality from the owner and the house manager was above and beyond. I had some credit card issues when I booked the property but owner- Epameinondas was absolutely patient and worked with me to solve the issues, without cancelling our reservations. Rena the house manager was simply charming and was extremely responsive and helpful with all our questions. She set up the house as per our group’s needs. We will def stay here next time we visit Santorini!!!
We have no idea where to begin. The location and views of this property are next to none. Located right on the main walk way and easy to get to Thiras Main Street. The property manager was AMAZING!!! She helped with dinner suggestions/reservations, was responsive to every message and question we had, and helped arrange transfers to and from the airport and to different excursions. The transfer was on time and friendly. This apartment was a dream for our family and we will look to book again next time we are in Santorini!!

Wonderful. Different. Historic. Location. Customer service was epic- Christina!!A group of friends- 4 couples chose Villa Murat. It is an interesting home with private and common areas to share. From beginning to end, Christina made our visit perfect. Coordinating all transportation, porters, recommendation, flying dress photo shoot for us ladies and significant others. Each morning we had a breakfast prepared by Christina, great way to start the day. There are very few villas that hold 8 pp rather than each of us staying in separate villas. The stairs to 2 of the rooms are challenging but the architecture design has been approved and will be upgraded in the off season later this year. Also, the shower pressure is fantastic!
I cannot say enough good things about Rena's communication or her ability to offer incredible service for our stay at Villa Murat. She is amazing and her help with travel from the airport, luggage storage before check-in and travel around the island is unparalleled in any trip I've ever taken before. Rena alone is worth the stay, but holy beautiful. Yes, Santorini (Thira) is beautiful all on its own, but Villa Murat offers a spectacular view of the caldera and island that you must see to believe. In our pictures it looks fake because it's so amazing, but it's all 100% real. The villa is very classic, but massive supporting our group if 8 with nary an issue with sleeping arrangements or rest rooms. Highly, highly recommended.

Thank you so much for your wonderful review and for your incredibly kind words.
We are especially happy to hear how much you appreciated Rena's care and assistance. She truly loves looking after our guests, and your comments will mean the world to her.
We are delighted that Villa Murat and its views exceeded your expectations. Your comment that the pictures look fake because the view is so amazing truly made us smile — we actually hear that surprisingly often! Even after all these years, we still believe that the beauty of the caldera is something that photos can never fully capture.
It was a pleasure hosting your group, and we would be honored to welcome you back to Villa Murat whenever your travels bring you to Santorini again.

Throughout my life, I have had the immense privilege of traveling extensively across Greece, Europe, and the rest of the world. My parents, with their passion for exploration and their ability to afford it, introduced me to the wonders of travel from a young age. Together, we discovered the enchanting landscapes and cultural treasures of Greece and Europe. In 2005, with the support of my devoted spouse and a fulfilling career that provided the resources to pursue my dreams, I began an incredible journey to explore the world. Over the past 20 years, this journey has been nothing short of transformative, enriching my life with unforgettable experiences and lasting memories. Each destination I visited left an indelible mark on my heart. The breathtaking vistas of South Africa, the vibrant rhythms of Cuba, and the rich cultural tapestry of Mexico stirred my soul. The warm smiles in Thailand, the wild beauty of Madagascar, and the awe-inspiring marvels of the UAE expanded my horizons. The dynamic energy of New York and the historic charm of Massachusetts added layers to my understanding of the world. Each European country offered its own unique allure, inviting me to return time and again. However, as a father of two young children, my ability to jet off to distant lands has become limited to once a year. Yet, when the opportunity arose in 2018 to enter the tourism industry, I embraced it without hesitation. My countless adventures have instilled in me a deep understanding of what it takes to create magical experiences for travelers. Santorini, with its unparalleled beauty and charm, is a destination I am passionate about sharing with others.
Why they chose this property
My memories of Santorini stretch back to 1981 when I was just six years old. That was when my grandfather gifted us, his grandchildren, a vacation house in the serene village of Vlichada. Back then, I was fortunate to experience Santorini's untouched splendor before it soared to fame as a bustling tourist hotspot. The island's raw, natural beauty, along with its tranquility and timeless traditions, captured my heart. As I grew older and watched Santorini evolve into one of the world's most sought-after destinations, I gained insight into what draws people to this magical place and what they seek when they arrive. Around the age of 18, as my entrepreneurial spirit began to take shape, I often imagined myself playing a role in Santorini's thriving tourism industry. However, like many young dreamers, my first ambition was to "conquer the world." By 2018, at the age of 43 and a father to two young boys, the perfect opportunity arrived. I inherited a charming, traditional house from my grandmother, situated in one of the most picturesque spots on the island. I decided to transform it into a luxury villa, ensuring that its legacy and heritage were lovingly preserved. In many ways, it feels as though I didn't choose this place; rather, it chose me.
What makes this property unique
It's a story woven with history and inheritance. This house was passed down to me from my French grandmother, Filomen Murat, who herself inherited it from her uncle, Theofanis Tripolitis. The lineage of this family home traces back to before the 1900s, establishing it as one of Santorini's most venerable and historic residences. Although the exact construction date remains a mystery due to the absence of official records, it is believed to have been built between 1850 and 1875. In the islands of the Aegean Sea, homes like this are both rare and extraordinary. Known as "Kapetanospita" or "Captain's Houses," they are akin to American mansions, as they were the largest private residences of their time, primarily owned by ship captains. Villa Murat is named in honor of my grandmother, Filomen Murat, and proudly bears the coat of arms passed down from her ancestor, Antoine Murat. Antoine was conferred the title of Viscount by his cousin, Joachim Murat, King of Naples and the son-in-law of Napoleon Bonaparte I, Emperor of France. Remarkably, this house stood strong through the devastating earthquake of 1956, the 20th century’s most powerful earthquake in Europe. Following a meticulous renovation in 2019, Villa Murat Santorini emerged as a beautifully restored, 200-year-old private villa, equipped to meet the highest standards of luxury. Perched on the renowned Santorini Caldera cliff, in the upper part of Fira, it offers an unparalleled blend of breathtaking views, convenience, and privacy. At 300 meters (985 feet) above sea level, the villa provides unobstructed vistas of the Santorini volcano, the enchanting Caldera, and the bustling town of Fira. Its yard and pool, elevated 2 meters (6.5 feet) above the cobblestone path, ensure the secluded privacy that discerning guests expect, shielded from the view of passersby. It is no accident that this location is among the most photographed spots in Santorini, just a five-minute walk from the town center.
