We have now stayed on both sides of this property. We can't say enough good things about the location, neighborhood, and space. We would certainly return. The only thing we'd change is having a Q bed in the primary bedroom. The space may be too small to accommodate, but that would have made a difference. Otherwise, we have absolutely no complaints. Book JFTHE, it's a gem!

Spring Break on Emerald Island

We had a nice week at our VRBO rental. The place was clean and seemed well cared for. Beach and access were spectacular, weather was sunny but not warm!

Family Time at the Beach

We enjoyed a week on the beach visiting with our girls who are at UNC. We appreciated accommodations that allowed our family dog to visit with the girls too. The gated deck and easy walkway to the beach were helpful to all. Everything was fresh and clean inside the home.

The biggest issue is that the listing is both misleading and dirty. The property is actually a duplex, but this was not clearly disclosed upfront in the title, property type, or summary. It is only mentioned once, buried deep in the property description. We booked under the impression that it was a private, standalone home, which was an important factor in our decision. Discovering it was a duplex after arrival was frustrating and not what we expected—especially for the price we paid.The home itself was not well maintained. There is no bathtub, and the shower was dirty and had visible black mold. Bathing my young daughter in that shower all week was awful. On top of that, my allergies flared up constantly due to the heavy dust buildup on the paintings, ceiling fans, and other areas that clearly had not been cleaned properly.To make matters worse, after our stay the host contacted us asking if we had “kids rough housing” because they found a hole behind one of the beds. My daughter is only 21 months old and does not even walk yet—raising the question of whether they had ever cleaned behind the beds at all.Overall, this property did not meet the expectations set by its listing and was both misrepresented and poorly cleaned. Future guests should be aware before booking.

This place was the perfect space for our small family. We felt so welcomed as we entered to music playing, and bottles of water waiting. The place was clean, and neat, and all we needed! The outdoor shower is perfect!

So..you want ocean side?

This property is as close to the ocean as you can get. Great location..rental process was easy and professional. This property could easily accommodate 6 people. Good living area and kitchen is fully equipped. Two small bathrooms and three bedrooms. The best part is the outside deck. You can sit and watch the waves and you are steps from the beach. Will definitely rent this house again.

Great place to stay on the ocean front. It is perfect for my husband and I with room for a few more people. Not big, but very comfy. Great porch on the ocean side with great views. It was very clean and well taken care of.

Just for the Halibut West, a great vacation house!

We had four adults and two kids (4&7) stay in JFTH and it was the perfect vacation house. I originally wanted a single home b/c we were bringing our dog and I wanted lots of privacy, but this duplex provided just the right amount of privacy. We had everything we needed and there were a few extras that really made our stay more comfortable. They had ceiling fans in each room, but also small fans too, that helped created a bit of ambient noise which is helpful when traveling with kids and dealing with bedtimes, etc. The house was very clean. There were lots of fun board games to play for kids and adults. Being ocean front was a must so that even when the kids were resting inside we could still layout on the porch and see the water and feel the breeze. I would stay there again.
