About this property
Fully Equipped Farmhouse, downstairs bedroom and bathroom, Sat to Sat
A fully equipped authentic rustic converted stable block, fully supplied so you can enjoy a stress free holiday.
Its important to note that we rent saturday to saturday but guests can arrive and leave at anythime between those two rented period dates.
Covid . We provide, hand soaps and hand sanitiser and spray sanitiser for cleaning.
We are happy to accept the maximum of 2 small dogs. at a charge of 20€ per dog per week.
The house is a well equipped and furnished to a high standard. It is a converted stable block which was originally part of a large hunting lodge, adjacent to the Chateau of Argoules and originates to before the French Revolution. The house stands within an enclosed characteristic courtyard with original buildings such as the hunting dog kennels and the Pigeonnaiere. Which are the original pigeon dwellings, one of which stands very high above other buildings, including the great carriage house.
If you are looking for a quite peaceful, tranquil place to stay this is it, a bird lovers paradise. There are 3 areas nearby where fishing lovers can relax and fish. Permits are easily bought and all information is at the Gite.
It is within 45 minutes drive to beautiful sandy beaches, also the local town of Hesdin has a new swimming pool with a children's pool. There are water slides and an outdoor pool also (open in summer).
Belle Dune about 45 minutes from the house is a water park with wave machines.
The house is set in a quite area, great for bird watching former guests have sat out in the late evenings to watch the owls fly off to hunt, return with their catch for their chicks. If you are very quite, you can hear the chicks screeching in the tower. Also in the evenings the courtyard is a buzz with bats flying about catching insects. If you are very still you may encounter the resident hedgehog doing his nightly prowl looking for food.
During the day many different birds come to feed, while others nest in the surrounding buildings. The property has a pair of resident woodpeckers and a couple of pairs of wrens. Relax on a lounger, close your eyes and listen to the chorus of birdsong, just amazing.
The house can sleep up to 8 people (adults or children over the age of 2 yrs) and 2 infants under 2 yrs, sleeping in travel cots. We also provide 2 feeding chairs, and fireguard for the wood burner. There is also a door at both ends of the stairs, which helps prevent toddlers getting upstairs unsupervised. We also provide stair guards.
The house is bright and airy with many original features including beams and a inglenook fire place containing a wood burner. Its a lovely room to relax in front of the wood burner.
The house comprises of two floors, giving plenty of space to relax and enjoy the space. There is a second quite sitting room, which leads onto the patio, makes a lovely place to sit and read away from the main sitting room, which has a large flat screened TV, and receives english free sat TV.
This house is so designed, it almost comprises of two sections, which makes it ideal for extended family accommodation. The ground floor bedroom has it's own bathroom and toilet. This bedroom is at the opposite end of the house to the other sleeping accommodation, and does not have a floor above it, thus making it private and quite for perhaps grandparents.
Access and mobility: The house has
3 steps to the front entrance.
2 steps down from the kitchen to the sitting room
6 steps up to the half landing sitting area (this is part of the main stairs)
the 3 bedrooms and shower room are upstairs.
The house is very old and is in a village of historic interest therefore it has many levels. Therefore it is not suitable for anyone with severe mobility difficulties and who cant climb stairs.
We are very happy to answer any queries regarding its suitablility before guests make a reservation to make sure this is suitable to their requirements.
