We absolutely loved our stay at Spey Retreat. Kay was very responsive and helpful in getting us settled. The place was incredibly comfortable and spacious. The back patio has an amazing view. The location was perfect for us. It was a short walk to the most amazing coffee shop and many trails and a short drive to several adorable seaside towns. We are looking forward to staying here again in our next trip to Scotland.

We had a lovely and peaceful couple of nights here as a short break. The host is wonderful, and left welcome treats and supplies which were very much appreciated! The property is spacious , in a quiet cul-de-sac and very comfortable. A true home from home - outstanding. Also plenty of great things to do and see in the surrounding area on foot and by car. We will look forward to a return visit!
Spey Retreat – Tranquil Country Apartment on Picturesque SpeysideOur stay at Spey Retreat was absolutely wonderful! Kay, the host, is exceptionally kind and welcoming, making us feel at home from the very first moment. The apartment is beautifully arranged, with a cosy living room and fully equipped kitchen, a spacious bathroom, and a luxurious, comfortable bedroom. The highlight is the garden at the back, opening to a breathtaking, storybook-like view of the Speyside countryside. Truly a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature!

About the host

I am local to the North East, having been born and brought up on a farm. I've spent most of my life in the area and enjoy being in a rural location while close to so many exciting outdoor opportunities. My mother spent nearly 50 years welcoming guests from all over the world to our farmhouse bed and breakfast, which she ran in conjunction with being a farmer. As a result I'm no stranger to hospitality and ensuring guests have a first class experience ... and so they want to come back again!
Every season brings a different joy in being out in nature. But my favourite pastime is wild water swimming or 'dooking' as we call it here. We have one of the most spectacular coastlines in the UK and many lovely beaches for walking ... or swimming.
Why they chose this property
Our self catering apartment is annexed to our family home of nearly 40 years. It is located in a quiet rural location close to many walks - the Speyside Way being close by. The beaches are a delight and each one has it's own unique attraction.
You are a stone's throw from the coast and a short drive to the beautiful Cairngorm mountains. We have it all right here - birdwatching, hill walking, coastal exploration, wild water swimming, cycling, touring castles and our famous Speyside malt distilleries - there's no lack of opportunities.
What makes this property unique
Our compact self catering apartment is bright, spacious and ideal for finding peace and calm of the countryside while being a perfect base for exploring the whole area.
