The apartment is located in Nesso – one of the most charming small towns along Lake Como. Within a few minutes’ walk, you can reach the lakeshore by walking down the hill.
GETTING AROUND
There is a bus service connecting Como and Bellagio (line C30), and another one connecting Palanzo and Como (line C31). Please note that buses are infrequent and typically stop running around 10 PM. Taxis are also available, but not easily found in the area. We recommend guests arrive by car. Como is just a 10-minute drive away.
From Como’s San Giovanni train station, you can reach Milan Central Station and Switzerland (Lugano, Bellinzona, Locarno) regularly. From Como Nord Lago station, you can reach Milan Cadorna train station.
There are also public ferries connecting the lakeside towns from the Como pier in the city center.
From Bellagio, you can reach Menaggio, Cadenabbia, and Varenna by ferry.
The nearest airports are Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate, and Orio al Serio in Bergamo. Shuttle services to and from the airports can be easily arranged at an extra cost. For further questions about transportation and transfers, don’t hesitate to contact us — we’ll be happy to help!
TIPS
We recommend dedicating a day to visit the wonderful towns around the lake. Como is the urban center of the area, but the smaller towns are gems with stunning lakeside villas.
To move around and stroll along Lake Como, especially in small towns, comfortable shoes are a must.
There are many public fountains with drinkable water in the area, and the water is safe to drink unless otherwise stated. Tap water is also drinkable. Feel free to bring your refillable bottle!
Hiking lovers can explore stretches of the Strada Regia – the ancient road connecting Brunate (Como) to Bellagio.
Look for traditional restaurants to taste local dishes, especially those made with Lake Como fish.
In Italy, many shops (especially small ones) and services close at midday, so plan your shopping accordingly.
Lake Como is one of the deepest lakes in Europe and the deepest in Italy. Swimming and diving are prohibited in many areas and can be dangerous. However, for those wishing to swim, there are options. In Blevio, a small beach allows swimming and wakeboarding — just 15 minutes on foot from the property. In Como, there's an outdoor pool near Villa Olmo, but swimming in the lake is not recommended and largely forbidden. Other towns offer lakeside beaches.
The Lido of Bellagio and the pebble beach of San Giovanni await those wishing to explore the beautiful city of Bellagio, located at the center of the two arms of the lake. Locals and visitors also enjoy going to Nesso, where brave swimmers can dive into the lake from the ancient Roman bridge near the waterfall.
Lake Como is in a mountainous region. The surrounding Prealps may not look very high, but the climate is influenced by nearby mountains, and temperatures can change quickly. Be especially mindful of weather conditions during hikes and bring warm, waterproof clothing!
