About the host
Hosted by Samantha Houston
We are Samantha and Alec your VRBO hosts. We love Cornwall and Mawgan Porth is a very friendly place that still has lots of locals! We enjoy walking the dog along the cliffs and frequenting the local eateries and local pubs.
Why they chose this property
Tucked between the dramatic cliffs of the north Cornish coast and just a stone’s throw from Newquay, Mawgan Porthoffers the perfect blend of wild beauty and relaxed charm. With its sweeping sandy beach, surf-ready waves, and laid-back atmosphere, it’s no wonder this coastal haven is loved by locals and visitors alike – not just in summer, but in every season.
🌊 Summer by the Sea
In the warmer months, Mawgan Porth comes alive with sunseekers, surfers, and families making the most of the wide, golden beach. Whether you’re picnicking in the dunes, trying your hand at paddleboarding, or catching the sunset from a clifftop walk, there’s a sense of calm here that sets it apart from Cornwall’s busier hotspots.
🌿 Autumn Adventures
As the crowds fade, Mawgan Porth reveals a quieter, more contemplative side. Coastal trails are tinged with autumn colour, and the beach is perfect for long walks with the dog or simply watching the tide roll in. Local cafés and pubs stay open, offering cosy corners, great food, and spectacular views – ideal after a bracing hike along the South West Coast Path.
🌊 Winter Wildness
Winter brings a rugged kind of magic to Mawgan Porth. Watch stormy seas crash against the cliffs, enjoy windswept walks along empty sands, or curl up fireside in one of the area’s welcoming hotels or self-catering cottages. It’s a brilliant time for peaceful escapes, photography, or just embracing the elements.
🌸 Spring Awakening
Come spring, the coastline bursts into bloom and the village stirs back to life with fresh energy. It’s a time for beachcombing, exploring nearby gardens and villages, and spotting wildlife – from seals bobbing in the surf to seabirds soaring overhead.
🌟 Something for Everyone
Mawgan Porth offers something for all kinds of travellers – from luxury seekers staying in clifftop retreats to families enjoying classic seaside holidays, surfers chasing the next swell, or walkers exploring Cornwall’s natural beauty.

What makes this property unique
We have mixed beach style with modern touches and our house has a laid back vibe. It’s beautifully appointed with top end furnishings as that’s what we enjoy and look for in a holiday rental. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
