About the host
Hosted by Jade Forrest
Hi, I'm Jade. My partner Mali and I run JFMS Management — a small, independent property business based on the Sussex coast.
We started JFMS for a really specific reason. A few years ago, we found ourselves between homes and ended up living in short-term rentals for a stretch. Some were lovely; most weren't. We kept arriving to places where the welcome was an afterthought, the host was unreachable, the bed felt slept-in, and the little things that make a stay feel like a stay just hadn't been thought about. We finished that period with a clear view of what good hospitality should feel like — and a stubborn opinion that it shouldn't be unusual.
That's the bit I enjoy most. I love the moment a guest walks in and something small they weren't expecting makes them smile — fresh towels stacked properly, the heating already on if it's cold, a note about the best coffee on the road. The work behind it is unglamorous. The result is the part that's worth doing.
When I'm not hosting, you'll find me on the Brighton seafront with a coffee, I'm always quick on messages — probably too quick, my partner would say. If you've got a question before, during, or after your stay, I'm there.
We can't wait to host you.
Why they chose this property
Brighton gets under your skin in the best way. It's a small city that thinks like a much bigger one — fiercely independent, creative, slightly weird, and absurdly easy to fall in love with. What I love most is how walkable it is. From the front door of the townhouse you can be in the Lanes in minutes, weaving past vintage shops and antique jewellers, then through the North Laine for proper independent food and bars, down to the seafront for a long stretch by the water, and back via a quiet pub a stone's throw from where you started. The Royal Pavilion, the Pier, the beach, the Theatre Royal — they're all part of the same easy walking radius.
If you want quieter, the South Downs are a 20-minute drive (or a Sunday-afternoon train) and feel like a different country entirely. Hove sits next door for a calmer pace — wide tree-lined streets, the seafront cycle path, lawns by the sea, and some of the best independent cafés on the south coast. And Brighton station puts you in central London in under an hour, so plenty of guests use the city as a base for both. Honestly, my favourite thing about hosting here is the conversations.
A lot of guests arrive thinking they know Brighton, and leave with three or four neighbourhood spots they hadn't heard of. We've got a proper local list and we share it generously.
What makes this property unique
Sleeps a group properly, not awkwardly. Four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms — essentially a bathroom for every bedroom, plus a separate guest WC. That's not a number we picked at random; it's the difference between a relaxed group stay and the morning queue for the shower. Whether it's a multi-generational family, two couples, or a group of friends, no one's negotiating bathroom time.
It's a townhouse and has generous separate living and sleeping floors, a kitchen built for actual cooking rather than reheating takeaway, a private patio for morning coffee or evening wine, and a dedicated workspace for guests mixing a stay with a few work-from-Brighton days. Plenty of room to all be in the house and still feel like you've got space.
Smart-lock self check-in means everyone in the group can come and go on their own schedule without juggling a single set of keys — guests routinely tell us this is the small thing that made coordination easy.
