Garden Cottage is a Grade II-listed cottage set at the heart of the award-winning Mapperton Gardens in West Dorset. Built around 1900, with earlier elements dating back to the 17th century, it is tucked into a historic terraced wall and enjoys beautiful views of the formal gardens and rolling countryside beyond.
Stylishly restored, Garden Cottage blends antique charm with modern comfort, including a characterful inglenook open fire for cosy evenings. Sleeping up to six guests, the cottage offers three characterful bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a well-equipped kitchen. A private, enclosed garden surrounds the cottage, offering outdoor seating on the northern side for sunny mornings and on the southern side for relaxed evenings.
Guests enjoy complimentary access to Mapperton Gardens and Wildlands (March–October), along with reduced-price guided tours of Mapperton House (£5 per person). Walking trails wind through the gardens and out into the wider countryside, with many more routes to explore beyond the estate. Close to Beaminster, Bridport, and the Jurassic Coast, Garden Cottage is ideal for a tranquil countryside escape. Dogs are welcome downstairs.
