A great place to stay on Speyside

This is a fantastic place to stay on Speyside. The Abernethy Forest is at the bottom of the garden and there is easy access to The Speyside Way. Great for walking and cycling. Nethy Bridge is a village with shop pub farmer’s shop etc. The lodge is cosy with wood stove good log supply and a well equipped kitchen which is a little cramped but as 6 adults we coped OK. A balcony to enjoy the proximity of the forest was nice too. Excellent bike storage shed.

Stables

Enjoyed long weekend in the Stables Cottage, Nethy Bridge The cottage was very clean, with extremely comfortable bedding, linen and towels. The kitchen was very well stocked with all essentials. The only slight hiccup was omission providing a cot which had been asked for, eventually delivered the following day but unsuitable because had not been brought up to room temperature.

Clean house, lovely location

The house was easy to find from directions ( although be aware the photos are of the back of the house so what you see from the road is very different). It was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. The garden was fully secure for our smallish dog although she did have some arguments with the dogs next door ! Nethy Bridge was very relaxing to stay in and the house is right next to the forest for walks or cycles.

Lovely cottage

Stables Cottage is very comfortable and very well appointed. The owners have thought of everything one might want in a holiday cottage. We particularly loved sitting in front of the log burner on cold evenings looking out at the stars. Its location could not be better either - right on the edge of the forest - perfect for long walks. The only issue we had was that we found the property had not been fully cleaned before our arrival. However GNL were quick to apologise and provide a suitable remedy when we contacted them. We would, therefore, happily stay in this or other GNL properties in future.

A lovely cottage in a quiet village

This 'upside down' cottage has lovely outdoor spaces on several sides, enabling views into the forest at any time. We were lucky to have great weather for the first week and made the most of these spaces, being able to choose sunshine or shade at most times of day. The well equipped kitchen made self-catering easy. Bathrooms on both levels meant that we had the luxury of a bathroom each and the powerful shower in the en-suite was great. The cottage is on the edge of Nethy Bridge, a quiet, forest village with excellent forest walks, well signed in all directions and right on the Speyside Way route. We enjoyed a quad bike tour at Rothiemurchus, visiting the rescued lynx and artic foxes at the Highland Wildlife Park and the nearby Strathspey steam railway.

A great base in Speyside

We had a great week staying in Stables Cottage. It’s was a great location to see the ospreys at Boat Garten, tour Loch Ness and explore the Speyside glen and cairngorms - too much for a week!! Stables Cottage was a home from home for the 4 of us (my wife and I + our 2 “young adults”!) and is comfortable and well appointed. The rooms are cozy but not small and we had plenty of space for the 4 of us. The balconies upstairs are a lovely place to sit and look out on the surrounding pines - we even saw a goshawk and a red squirrel! The kitchen is cosy but the 4 of us cooked and ate several meals there and it’s very well appointed with good quality kitchen utensils and a new hob and oven. The nespresso coffee machine was a bonus of a morning!! We had some nice evenings watching a movie on the internet tv too. Beds were really comfortable with luxurious pillows and the bathrooms modern and clean, with excellent showers. We also charged our ev at the cottage which all worked brilliantly. We messaged Ken to have it unlocked and within minutes we were charging! We’ve not booked through GNL before but Ken and team are brilliant and very responsive. Highly recommend them and will definitely use GNL when we return to this wonderful part of the world.

Lovely location, clean, spacious, well kitted out cottage. Highly Recommended

We had a wonderful stay at Stables Cottage and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a proper Highland escape. The location is hard to beat. The cottage backs onto the edge of the Abernethy forest, and from the moment you step outside you have access to an enormous network of well-maintained woodland paths. Whether you fancy a gentle morning stroll or a longer hike, it's all right there on the doorstep, no car needed. The cottage itself was spotlessly clean throughout, and the beds were genuinely comfortable, the kind you actually look forward to getting into after a day out in the fresh air. The sheets and towels were great quality which added to the luxury feeling. The living spaces are well thought out, and it was a nice touch to have Netflix and other streaming services on the TV for winding down in the evenings. Although the kitchen seems to have most of what you would need, we think a larger family would struggle if you were thinking of cooking every night, but thats not why you are on holiday though! Two of the shower rooms are generously sized, and one in particular (the en-suite) has an exceptionally powerful shower, the sort that makes you feel human again after a muddy walk. Having a shower room on each level is a real practical bonus, especially if you're staying with a full group. One of the standout features for us was just how peaceful it is. Nethy Bridge is a quiet village at the best of times, but the cottage feels genuinely tucked away been on the outskirts of the village, the kind of stillness you rarely find these days. It made for brilliantly restful nights. The enclosed garden is a lovely addition for those with dogs (see comment later on), and for those travelling with an electric vehicle, there's a 7kw EV charger on site which worked perfectly and saved us any range anxiety during the trip. One small note for dog owners: the garden is enclosed, but the fencing is a fairly modest wire affair and isn't particularly high. For a relaxed or older dog it would be absolutely fine, but if yours has a mischievous streak or a nose for adventure and with a whole forest right next door, who could blame them, it's worth keeping an eye on them. The rear of the property doesn't have any lighting out to the garden (the property does provide torches, but we used our own as have some high power ones) - just making a note for those late night toilet runs with dogs, just as its really quiet, there is no light pollution here, so it really is pitch black outside. Overall, a fantastic base for exploring the Cairngorms or further, we ventured across to Glenfinnan and even up to Crovie Village. We'd go back without hesitation.
