About this property

The Pool House - a delightful cabin with private pool bordering the South Downs.

Wooden Cabin with private pool nestled in the South Downs

Sleeps 4 in 2 bedrooms
Situated in the charming village of Sutton, in the South Downs National Park and just outside Petworth with its quirky antique shops and stately home, The Pool House is a cozy countryside retreat designed for relaxed getaways. With wisteria-covered buildings, rolling hills, and winding walking trails, the Petworth area offers an idyllic setting for couples or small families looking for opportunities to relax and explore.

Set within the grounds of a family home, The Pool House is a 2 bedroom wooden cabin, exuding Scandinavian rustic charm with warm, welcoming interiors and breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside. The 17 metre outdoor pool is exclusively yours to enjoy in a romantic rose filled private garden —perfect for lazy summer days soaking up the sun or refreshing morning dips before breakfast on the terrace. Warm up in the sauna and refresh yourself in the large family shower, before relaxing again on one of the loungers by the pool. If you’re feeling more active, grab a tennis racket and head across the orchard to the tennis court. Pick damsons in the summer or apples in the autumn, play with the children in the wooden tree house or head straight out on to one of the many footpaths leading you up on to the South Downs. The choice is yours!

Inside, the wood lined cabin has everything you need. There’s reliable Wi-Fi for staying connected (if you must), with a large comfortable sofa to watch movies on the home cinema or air hockey and snooker tables if you want to play. Light the wood burning stove as the evenings draw in and settle down with a glass of one of the Sussex sparkling wines.

Whether you're looking for a romantic escape, a family retreat, or a quiet base to explore this beautiful corner of Sussex, The Pool House offers the perfect mix of comfort, charm, and countryside calm.

We booked this property because we really wanted a decent sized, private pool. The fact that it came with a tennis court, sauna, pool table, home cinema, orchard and greenhouse full of amazing fruit, private garden, gas barbeque, a covered veranda for sitting and eating and fantastic rural walks in every direction, made it the perfect holiday! We intended to visit some of the local attractions, but decided we had everything we wanted, within the house and grounds. There's no doubt we would stay again, it's incredible value for money.

We're just back from a wonderful 4 night stay at The Pool House to end our summer break. The area is incredible, just far enough out of the hustle and bustle, but close enough to where we live to not lose time travelling. We had our 2 kids with us, aged 10 and 14 and they spent all of their time outside! The swing was a hit with the kids, the tennis didn't get competitive at all - it did - and there was ample space for them to roam free. The orchard was delightful - picking off a plum as we passed was a novelty we could get used to, and even tried a grape or 2 fresh from the vines. The beds were comfy, the sofa sublime and the kitchen was well enough equipped. The pool was amazing, and what a stunning setting to lounge next to whilst getting through a book! Our evenings were topped off with a family sauna and a dip in the pool, before settling down to another highlight of movie nights on the massive projector and screen!Whilst we could absolutely get used to the lifestyle, we sadly had to head home! However, utterly refreshed and ready to head back to work. Would love to return at some point.
