“The Orr’s Island Cottage” is much more than a cottage. It is an enchanted and charming home boasting expansive views of Harpswell Sound. This is a well maintained, year-round home located on the shore of Harpswell Sound. Orr's Island, Maine is a peninsula connected by bridges to Harpswell and Brunswick- just 15 minutes from Brunswick, home of Bowdoin College and a great downtown area. The interior and exterior blend one into the other through sliding glass doors across the width of the home-opening onto multi-decking and stairs to the private waterfront, complete with floating walkways and dock- ideal for fishing, boating, kayaking and sunbathing. This open concept floor plan provides a natural flow from the fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and living room. The large fireplace, hardwood floors, wood ceilings, create a warm, charming, romantic, perfect vacation retreat. This cottage feels vintage with all the modern amenities, i.e. smart tvs, high speed wi-fi access and air conditioning. We also have books and DVDs for those that want to relax. This is a charming, well-maintained cottage in a beautiful location overlooking Harpswell Sound. It is very clean and very comfortable, with a well-stocked kitchen, perfect for our family gathering. Lynn is a very responsive and accommodating host. Our stay went without a hiccup. We would love to stay here again.

House was beautiful! Overlooking the peaceful sound. Great dock area. Clean and well stocked. Had plenty of towels and extra blankets, etc. Enough space for the 6 in our party. Very private. Heard some street noise from the back but it wasn’t too bad. We enjoyed the large yard in the front and relaxed on the deck area in the back. We also enjoyed having our meals on the back patio overlooking the water. Great communication. We would love to come back! Thank you!

This is a lovely home with beautiful views of the water. The yard is large with pretty plantings and trees creating a private setting. We stayed here with family to celebrate a happy occasion and couldn’t have been more pleased with the inviting and beautiful decor and clean and comfortable surroundings. The kitchen was supplied with everything we needed, and we enjoyed eating at the large dining table while enjoying a view of the water. The host was a pleasure to communicate with and was organized and thorough in giving information about our stay. I would definitely stay here again.

Perfect location

This home has a beautiful view, and only minutes away from great hiking trails. Very cozy and has everything that you might need. Great kitchen fully stocked with pans, spices, new refrigerator and a washer and dryer. The owner manager was hands on and easy to talk to. I highly recommend this VRBO.

I am the owner and a realtor and understand what guest are expecting and strive to exceed traveler's expectations. The recent improvements are evident in the kitchen with new appliances and although the sink and toilet have been replaced in the upstairs bathroom, I have not tackled the upstairs shower which is part of future plans. Beautiful location and stay!

The house was excellent and offered everything you needed…a true home away from home experience. Kids loved playing outside and using the dock and had plenty of space. House was filled with all the essentials and then some. Great space to cook and share meals. Sunsets on the back deck were priceless. We had an excellent stay and would definitely return or recommend to others!!

Highly recommend this property

Rental property was very clean and well stocked with just about everything you could think of -- all we needed was food. We particularly enjoyed the cabinet full of board games. Great access to the waterfront, and loved the three sliding/screen doors that opened onto to deck overlooking the water. I would stay there again, and absolutely recommend it to anyone.

Comfortable Maine stay - perfect for all weather!

Our stay was perfect. House was great and comfy for all types of weather. Kitchen is stocked and great for preparing family meals. We enjoyed gathering together at the table and fit perfect in the living room. Spent lots of time on the deck and down at the dock. Kids enjoyed playing outside and running around with lots of space and privacy. We loved our stay once again!

Wonderful Graduation Stay

Our family spent a long weekend at Lynn’s home over our daughter’s college graduation weekend. The home was a delight in every way. Close to the center of Brunswick but near the Giant’s Steps and other outdoor activities. Well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The home more than lives up to its online profile. We would stay again in a minute.

Cosy house in a lovely setting

Enjoyed our stay. House cosy and warm. Situation is lovely with nice water views and easy swimming (even in October!). The area is great but be aware most things on the islands close by mid October. Well presented and stocked as a family home rather than casual rental. Might add some decent wine glasses! We would certainly consider a return visit from England.

Gorgeous View, Gorgeous Weather

Location was perfect for us. Direct view of the cove with a floating dock. We set up chairs to read on the dock every day and enjoy the beautiful views. The house had everything we needed, including air conditioning! Only needed to use the units a couple of times, but appreciated that we had them. Close to Brunswick and Freeport for dining and shopping. Short drive to Cedar Beach and the Giant Stairs walking trail on Bailey a island.

Beautiful waterfront stay in summer

We loved our stay and it was a perfect base for exploring the area during the day, and returning for peaceful happy hour/reading times with beautiful sunsets from the back deck overlooking the bay. We were a three-generation family and having the main bedroom with en suite bath on the same floor as the living area was a great plus for anyone concerned about ease of mobility. The kitchen was extremely well stocked, and all beds really comfortable. Beautiful location and easy driving distance to hikes or walks on the island or in Harpswell, and we loved heading to Boothbay for the day. One thing to note is there is no restaurant or anything really on the island, but within 10 min there are a few restaurants, ice cream shop.

Large complete kitchen with dishwasher great for large number of guests. Splits helpful but could use instructions for use. Rear deck with water view; furniture solid and heavy; but too large for us. Rear wooden stairs down to float too steep for us so not used, and not safe for children unless with an adult. Stairs to loft area bedroom and bathroom also too steep for us. Host very helpful. Beautiful sunsets!

Why they chose this property

As I approached the front door of 10 Sunset View, I could see the water from Harpswell sound through the side lights and knew this was the one. I bought the home with the intention of renting and enjoying it myself as a get-away. I cherish my time here and have tried to keep the cottage - simple, with a vintage seaside feel. It has become primarily a "vacation rental" property. It does have the modern amenities and devices that we all need to work remotely and stay in touch with our friends and family. There is also a TV in each bedroom.
I have successfully rented the home each year to great tenants that seek the quiet, tranquil setting, panoramic water views, birdwatching, boat watching, boating, fishing, grilling ….I often tell people being on Orr's Island is like stepping back in time, away from the hustle and bustle of our work and busy lives. A place to retreat, reflect and regroup with family and friends.
The property is managed with my brother's assistance and he lives locally. The nearby town of Brunswick is a college town with shopping, diverse restaurants and activities.

What makes this property unique

The property has a large deck overlooking Harpswell Sound, direct water access to Harpswell sound with dock and floats. 10 Sunset View is set on 3/4 of an acre with a private back yard in a quiet neighborhood. There is a large front yard and plenty of parking.
