Make the most of your Suffolk seaside experience with a superb stay at this beautifully presented cottage. Situated close to Southwold Lighthouse, it makes a fabulous base for anyone seeking to be at the heart of the town and in a great position for heading out along the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Sleeping four guests, and also welcoming a canine companion, the two-bedroom bolthole, which is ideal for a small family or two couples, is less than 100 metres from the beach.

Enter the cottage to find it has an airy appeal with rooms that reflect its coastal location in their decor. Put your feet up in the lounge/diner, which looks out over a green opposite, perhaps in front of your favourite TV programme. Wander through to the kitchen to make a hot drink, pour a glass of chilled wine or prepare the next meal to enjoy back through at the table. Sink back into a comfortable seat in the sunroom when you fancy a few quiet moments to yourself, opening the French doors on to the courtyard during the summer. When eyelids begin to droop, climb the stairs to the first floor for a good night’s sleep in either the king-size bedroom, which has sea views and an en-suite shower room, or the double, with an en-suite bathroom. Spend summer evenings out in the courtyard, sipping a cocktail as the sun goes down. Parking for this cottage is on the street, subject to availability.

Swim, make sandcastles or have a go at surfing or paddle-boarding from Southwold beach. Stroll less than 0.5 miles along the seafront to the town’s famous pier, with its water clock and unusual under-the-pier show, made up of interactive machines. Walk 1 mile down to the harbour to take the ferry rowing boat over to Walberswick.
