✨ Historic Steading in beautiful Glen

Nestled in the heart of beautiful Speyside, The Hayloft at Brylach Steading offers a peaceful and characterful retreat steeped in history. Built in 1873, this lovingly restored Victorian property once housed the horses and carriages of the Dunbar Dunbar family’s holiday residence — a grand house that still stands nearby today. Now thoughtfully reimagined, Brylach Steading is home to three charming self-catering cottages, including the intimate and inviting Hayloft.

Set around an impressive stone courtyard and framed by sweeping views of glens and countryside, The Hayloft is a cosy one-bedroom apartment ideal for couples or solo travellers seeking relaxation, adventure, or a bit of both. Wake up to fresh Highland air, enjoy peaceful mornings overlooking the courtyard, and unwind after a day exploring one of Scotland’s most celebrated regions.

Perfectly positioned, Brylach Steading is surrounded by world-class whisky distilleries, iconic golf courses, and renowned fishing on the River Spey. Whether your days are spent walking forest trails, cycling quiet country roads, wildlife spotting, skiing in the Cairngorms, or touring historic sites, there is truly something for everyone right on the doorstep.

The nearby villages of Rothes, Craigellachie, and Aberlour offer welcoming cafés, pubs, and local shops, while Elgin — just 20 minutes away — provides larger supermarkets, historic landmarks, and transport links.

Guests at The Hayloft enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi, private parking, and easy self check-in, with access to the shared courtyard and surrounding woodland. Well-behaved dogs are welcome, making this a wonderful choice for those who wish to explore Speyside with their four-legged companions.

Whether you’re looking for a relaxing hideaway or a base for unforgettable Highland adventures, The Hayloft at Brylach Steading promises a warm welcome, rich history, and timeless Speyside charm.

About the host

We moved to the Scottish Highlands from London last year. We love this stunning area and community and feel lucky to be here every day. Brylach Steading is a historic, listed property that we're determined to be good custodians of. We love meeting our guests from all different walks of life and helping them to make the most of their stay in Speyside whether here for holidays, celebrations, work or anything else.

Why they chose this property

It's simply stunning. We came on holidays in January and couldn't believe that even at that time of year it was still so beautiful! The combination of mountains, glens, beaches and forests is extraordinary!

What makes this property unique

We're part of a very old historic estate and the building is very unique being a closed courtyard, once housing horses and carriages for the family's holiday residence in the 1800's.
