About this property

3 Bed in Brecon (oc-bn331)

Situated in the hamlet of Cathedine, this magnificent and contemporary cottage is ideally situated for exploring the surrounding Brecon Beacons. Venture 2 miles to Llangorse, where you’ll find decent pubs, and Llangorse Lake, where you can walk along the shoreline and which has plenty of activities to keep all the family busy such as canoeing, sailing and fishing. Llangorse Pony Trekking and Adventure Centre is 3 miles from the property and has excellent rock climbing walls and zip lines. Talgarth is situated nearby (6 miles) has a restored and working Mill, selling artisan flour and bread, it’s open for tours, with a cafe situated next to the river selling delicious lunches and cakes. There is also George’s butchers, which is over a hundred years old and sells local free range meat and there’s a Co-Op. Talybont-on-Usk, a village (3 miles) has two pubs, a village shop, lovely walks along the canal and into the deeper countryside, notably the waterfall walk, which starts just after the reservoir. The lovely town of Brecon, with its must-see cathedral (9 miles) and the beautiful towns of Crickhowell (7 miles) and Hay on Wye (15 miles), known as the ‘Town of Books’, are all a short drive away. All three places have lots to explore, with lovely shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes.

Arrive at Tower House via a sloping flagstone path leading to the glossy red front door. The entrance hall leads into the spacious and stylish kitchen, with flagstone flooring, stone fireplace, wood burner and welcome pack filled with local produce. Gather around the breakfast bar to enjoy drinks and snacks ensuring the cooks don't miss out on the conversation. The adjoining dining room has a large table, big enough for all guests to enjoy a meal together. There is also a convenient downstairs toilet. Leading off the dining room is a conservatory that runs the width of the house. There are two telescopes in here and it is an ideal spot to stargaze in the Dark Skies Reserve. The living room has another open fire with a traditional Victorian fireplace as well as a large Smart TV and comfortable sofas for a cosy evening in. Continue upstairs to three bedrooms, one king-size and one double with great views across the valley, and one twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room. There is a luxurious family bathroom with large double shower and free-standing bath.

Outside, there is a spacious parking area big enough for four cars with a sloping flagstone path leading to the house. The French doors from the conservatory open up onto a well-kept large garden with far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside. There is a children’s trampoline to keep the little ones occupied as well as plenty of lawn space for games and play time. A patio area has a garden table and chairs. To the side of the main house is an outhouse/utility room with washing machine, BBQ for use in the garden and a second fridge, it is lockable and big enough to safely store bikes.
