About this property

2 Bed in Consett (oc-92807)

Charming stone-built cottage, perfect for a relaxing or active rural retreat. The holiday let is located amid the stunning scenery of the North Pennines AONB with fantastic walking, hiking and biking routes directly on your doorstep and with opportunities for stargazing in Europe's largest Dark Sky Park. The pretty historic village of Blanchland (2 miles) has a renowned friendly inn dating back to the 12th century and serving daily meals and quality ales, as well as a lovely tearoom, a handy post office shop, and a quirky craft and gift shop with an art gallery to enjoy. The picture-postcard village of Corbridge and the bustling market town of Hexham are both within 13 miles. Explore Derwent Reservoir (4 miles) for water sports and rainbow trout fishing, or visit Beamish and Bowes Museums (24 miles), the living museum of the north.

Step inside this charming, stone-built, period cottage, built around 1860 and originally a mine workers’ cottage. Enter from the large, enclosed garden into the hall and through to the light and bright lounge. Relax on the comfortable sofas after a day out exploring this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and enjoy a movie on the Smart TV. On those cooler evenings, switch on the electric fire and enjoy cosy nights in. Next is the kitchen, a perfect place to get cooking, with a dining area for romantic or family gatherings and direct access out to the large spacious grounds with seating areas. Heading up the stairs, you will find a double bedroom with ample storage space and stunning views over the surrounding countryside. There’s a cosy second double bedroom with lovely views. Completing the accommodation is the shower room with a large shower cubical and WC.

Outside in the enclosed large gardens spanning 4.5 acres, there is a quirky stone bench at the front of the property, a perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee whilst admiring the beautiful views. There is also a picnic table and charcoal BBQ for al fresco dining or lazy evenings stargazing surrounded by stunning scenery.
