About this property

Ravenswood

Beautifully restored countryside retreat in rural East Lothian

Ravenswood is a thoughtfully restored countryside cottage offering a peaceful rural escape in the heart of East Lothian. Set on a picturesque working farm at the foot of the Lammermuir hills, this relaxed and welcoming retreat combines contemporary comfort with warm, understated traditional character. Filled with natural light and enjoying a south-facing aspect, Ravenswood is a calm and comfortable base designed for slowing down, switching off, and making the most of the surrounding countryside.

Perfectly suited to couples, small families, or friends, the cottage offers a homely and inviting space for those looking to experience the very best of the region. With garden views, quiet surroundings, and easy access to woodland walks and open farmland, it is a lovely place to return to after a day exploring East Lothian’s coast, villages, golf courses, and historic sites.

While wonderfully rural, Ravenswood sits just outside Gifford - a picturesque conservation village rich in history, where you can stroll through the historic Yester Estate or explore the atmospheric ruins of Yester Castle. It provides the perfect base for discovering the independent shops and market-town charm of nearby Haddington, the dramatic ruins of Tantallon Castle, and the beaches, harbours, and seaside cafés of North Berwick. East Lothian’s pristine coastline, including Yellowcraig and Tyninghame Beach, is within easy reach, along with world-class golf courses, local wild swimming, and the buzz of central Edinburgh, just 18 miles away.

The Space

A bright and welcoming living space forms the heart of the cottage, offering a comfortable place to relax after a day outdoors.

Living & Dining: A well-equipped kitchen, relaxed dining space, and comfortable lounge provide everything needed for an easy countryside stay.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms: Two bedrooms - one double and one twin - sleep up to four guests, complemented by one modern bathroom.

Outside: Garden views, peaceful farm surroundings, and private parking on site make Ravenswood a simple and restful rural escape.

The Location

Surrounded by rolling farmland and scenic countryside, Ravenswood feels wonderfully tucked away while remaining close to East Lothian’s best-loved villages, beaches, and attractions.

In Gifford: A picturesque conservation village where you can enjoy artisan coffee and homemade baking at Lantern Rouge, browse design-led homewares at Beech & Birch, and head to The Tweeddale Arms for lunch, dinner, or drinks.

Haddington & Local Provisions: A vibrant, attractive market town packed with independent shops, cafés, artisan bakeries, and premium food merchants. Minato Sushi, The Foraging Goat, Charlie’s Pies and the Cheese Lady are amongst our favourite spots in East Lothian.

Coast & Culture: Within easy reach of East Lothian’s stunning coastline, world-class golf courses, and seaside hubs like North Berwick, while central Edinburgh is a straightforward drive or train ride away.

Things To Note

For larger groups, Owl Cottage is also located on site and may be available to book alongside Ravenswood, subject to availability.

We want all our guests to have a peaceful time at Ravenswood and respectfully request that noise is kept to a minimum after 10pm.

One well behaved pet is welcome, however we do ask that pets are not allowed onto furniture or into bedrooms.

What We Love

The peaceful south-facing setting makes Ravenswood feel especially calm and restorative, with beautiful countryside all around and some of East Lothian’s best villages, beaches, and walks close by.
