About this property

Cabin No. 2, Wester Kirkhill Lodges

A bright living and dining area features an open-plan kitchen with Velux windows, a comfortable double sofa bed, and elegant double French doors opening onto private decking. From here, guests can enjoy stunning meadow and countryside views. The airy king-size double bedroom also has French doors leading to the same picturesque private decking. The bathroom offers a spacious 6’ rainfall shower, while a convenient cloakroom provides space for coats, footwear, and bags.

Welcome to Wester Kirkhill Lodges - the perfect place to unwind in beautiful natural surroundings.

The spacious double bedroom features a luxurious king-size bed with a premium natural wool mattress, chosen for its exceptional comfort and temperature regulation for a good night’s sleep. The bed is dressed in ethically-sourced duvets and pillows made from recycled materials, with soft 100% organic cotton duvet covers, pillowcases and bed sheets.

Adjacent to the bedroom is a beautifully finished bathroom featuring a spacious 6’ rainfall shower. Plush organic cotton towels are provided, along with Miniml refillable hand wash, body wash and shampoo.

In the kitchen/living area, daylight pours in through two electrically-operated Velux roof lights (with black-out blinds, should you choose to sleep on the large double sofa bed below), creating a bright, airy atmosphere throughout the space. In addition to the heaters throughout the cabin, an Everhot Electric Stove efficiently heats the room in the cooler months and doubles-up as an oven for warming food.

Two sets of large double French windows lead from here and the bedroom onto full-length private decking, flooding the cabin with natural light. On warm days, you can open these to let in the wonderful, fresh Highland air and listen to the birds sing while you prepare food in the kitchen or just enjoy reading a good book in bed.

We are committed to helping you travel sustainably and this informs everything we do. With the enthusiastic help of our young son and our good friends we have planted over 450 native trees and added 6 acres of wildflowers. The cabin is built on ground screws rather than concrete founds to minimise the building's carbon footprint, and is insulated with mixed materials including natural hemp wool. The hot water and heating systems are 100% electric with a view to - one day - switching to our own off-grid, renewably-generated energy system.

We look forward to having you stay with us.

Welcome to Wester Kirkhill Lodges. We are a local family who are passionate about sustainability, good design and the natural world. When we’re on our travels, what we look for is simple - comfortable beds and excellent showers - and this became the baseline for this project. With our combined backgrounds in organic brewing, bricklaying, printmaking and graphic design, we have designed and built these cabins from the ‘ground screws’ up with the help of some great locals and friends. Even our 7-year-old son has been hands-on in helping us bring this dream to life. Together, we’ve enjoyed watching the saplings and wildflowers we planted take hold and spotted hundreds of birds, butterflies and moths while families of roe deer skip through the meadow in the evening light. Whether you’re just passing through for a few nights or looking for a longer stay for your next quiet getaway to the Scottish Highlands, we look forward to welcoming you.
