About this property
Comfy Safe Quiet Haven, Dog Friendly! 2 Miles to Downtown or to Vilano Beach
Comfy classic 50’s Florida home in quiet neighborhood close to everything in St. Augustine and ready for your wonderful, relaxing, pet-friendly stay! The property is two miles from downtown St Augustine and the Castillo De San Marcos fort and two miles from beautiful Vilano Beach and Porpoise Point. It is also far enough away from everything to experience the sounds and magic of Florida nature.
This Fullerwood historic neighborhood home is charming classic late 50’s Florida style. The house is large and bright with a spacious feeling. Well-placed windows provide pleasant views of aloe gardens shaded by Spanish moss-draped live oak and magnolia trees on a double lot. The Fullerwood quarter is classified by the city as historic and is noted for its diversity of architecture and many old growth towering Florida trees, and its history, which you can read about on historic plaques during shady walks in the neighborhood. It is one block from the marsh of the Intercoastal waterway with sidewalks and friendly neighbors to complete this old Florida setting. The home has two bedrooms, 1 and ¾ baths and sleeps four comfortably.
The drive from the house to historic downtown St. Augustine, the nation’s oldest city, or to beautiful Vilano Beach is about two miles either way. Or you can take a 30-minute walk to downtown past famous historic locations, cool and unique souvenir and gift shops, live acoustic music and delicious dining.
Features of the house include oak floors, heart pine cabinetry in the fully equipped kitchen, a classic bright Florida room for cozy time or wake-up time, carport, large backyard paver patio with a gas grill and comfy patio furniture, interesting gardens, tiled front porch with rocking chairs, and proximity to all of St. Augustine’s attractions.
The large master bedroom has its own tiled three-quarter bath and is furnished with queen-sized bed, lots of drawer and closet space, and view of the aloe gardens and the hundred-year-old live oak and magnolia trees in the large, fenced back yard.
The full bathroom access is in the hallway between the bedrooms. The bathroom has been restored to its 50’s glory of pink and grey tile with large deep tub/shower combination and really fun wooden maritime carvings by a local artist friend.
The second bedroom is pleasant and comfy furnished with a double bed and lots of drawer and closet space.
The house is decorated with mixed styles of décor, including rustic American and art deco. The Florida room is bright and airy, perfect for your morning coffee or sunset cocktail. The Florida room coffee table is notable because it displays many of the beach treasures we have found over the years. The large kitchen is completed by a mid-20th century style wood divider with a sun-filled breakfast nook. Listen to the morning mockingbirds and watch the many other types of songbirds feed while relaxing in the breakfast nook or on the patio.
Relax in after your day of old city adventures in our comfortable living room equipped with power recliners. There is Wi-Fi to watch your favorite shows and movies on the large TV. You can also find a CD player, a DVD player, and a variety of books, guidebooks, DVDs and games available for entertainment on the shelves of the old art-deco entertainment center. There are interesting art touches throughout the house which make your stay more pleasant.

About the host
Hosted by Deanna Koebnick

We are Chris and Deanna Koebnick, and we spend winters and summers in Steamboat Springs, Colorado as musicians and small business owners. I(Deanna) am originally from Florida, I graduated from Jacksonville University, and I have a graduate degree from the University of Colorado. Chris is from Minneapolis, MN and went to Hamlin University. We live an unconventional lifestyle as we are self-employed and spend a lot of time making music as professional musicians in two states.
Why they chose this property
Chris and I chose to have a home in St. Augustine because it is an interesting, historical and magical place for us and a place we have been visiting and enjoying for many years. We have tried to anticipate anything guests may need during their stay in our home.We love the historic neighborhood and the location of the house, close to everything downtown and two miles from the beach yet a quiet place to relax after a day of St. Augustine fun. Friendly neighbors and sidewalks through the lovely neighborhood, known for its varied architecture and beautiful old live oaks and magnolias also add to the charm of our house, built in 1959. You can often hear mockingbirds and other song birds as you sip your morning coffee.
We are adventurers and as a semi-native of St. Augustine, I am collecting tidbits, stories and locations of hidden places worth exploring! We are hoping you enjoy our respite from the everyday hassles of life to take some time and explore all the wonderful things St. Augustine has to offer from our quiet shelter.

What makes this property unique
This property is within walking distance from downtown, a short and lovely ride (or a three mile walk) to the Vilano Beach over the Vilano Bridge with spectacular views of Porpoise Point, the Atlantic, the Intercoastal Waterway, and downtown St. Augustine. The 50's home has the original oak floors, heart wood pine kitchen cabinets with a fifties-type divider between the kitchen and the breakfast nook. We fell in love with the beautiful live oaks and magnolias on the double lot, the comfy and quiet back yard, and the front porch where friendly neighbors wave from the sidewalks during morning and afternoon walks. The many birds that sing and visit the feeder are also quite enchanting. In short, we think you will find this charming property a roomy and comfy place for your escape to St. Augustine, the Ancient City.
