Alta Vista in Gated Smoky Mountain Retreat Community

Located on a 4000’ mountain ridge, AltaVista gives you two unparalleled long range mountain views overlooking both Maggie Valley and Jonathan Valley. These Vistas can be enjoyed in the summer or winter, from inside the home or outside on the spacious decks and covered porch area. Floor to ceiling glass with two separate glass gable walls give amazing views from inside the home. The home is fully equipped with a gourmet kitchen, Satellite TV/DVD players, High Speed Internet, outside BBQ grill, game room and two car garage.

Second floor (Main Living Area): Living Room with gas fireplace, 65” Smart TV/DVD player, Dining Room with seating for eight. Driveway can access this level directly by entering from the rear directly into kitchen area. Large fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances, Powder Bathroom, separate laundry room with washer and dryer. Outside porch and deck has picnic table, rocking chairs and BBQ grill. The Main Bedroom has a King Bed with premier log furniture, 47” TV/DVD, walk in closet, on suite Bathroom with two sinks, large shower, and Garden Tub.

Third Floor: Loft with reading area, 2nd Main Bedroom with Queen bed, 42” TV/DVD player and walk in closet. 3rd Bedroom with Queen bed, 40” TV. Shared bathroom with tub/shower and two separate marble cabinet sink areas.

Ground Floor: Two Car Garage with finished epoxy floor. Ping Pong Table, Decorated Recreation Room with Queen Sleeper Sofa, Card/Game Table, 42” Smart TV, Home Theater, Air Hockey, Beverage Refrigerator, and Open Decks just outside the Rec room French Doors.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were so comfortable and the views were gorgeous. The cabin was immaculate and we had the best time. My only recommendation would be better quality bath towels - they did not try and had to be washed regularly. The air on the third floor also did not circulate well. For most times of the year, it would be fine, but it was pretty warm when we visited.

Peaceful, relaxing, and wonderful

My family and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Alta Vista. The view was exceptional, and we were loathe to leave the cabin at all during our stay! Having entrances on 2 levels was ideal. My mother is 85 and does not do stairs well. I was able to drive her up to the main floor entrance, where she only had 2 steps to get up. -And there was a railing for her to hold on to. Once inside, she was able to maneuver around the main floor with no problems. We enjoyed cooking together in the kitchen but were surprised that we had to purchase aluminum pans for our Thanksgiving baking and roasting. Otherwise, I would say the kitchen was very well stocked! The place was mostly clean when we arrived. The kitchen floor needed a thorough sweeping, but overall, the place looked great. The beds were comfortable; the fold out sofa-bed, not so much, but does anyone really expect it to be? :) We had brought an air mattress along. The wi-fi went out in the evenings on several occasions, which was a bummer for my young nephews who enjoy playing Roblox and Minecraft, but we had plenty of other activities to do together . . . like air hockey (which was a huge hit). Overall, we LOVED this home. It is tastefully decorated, but not cluttered, and so very comfortable! We are grateful that the owners shared it with us, and we look forward to making more family memories there!

The only thing I didn't like was the road and how you had to drive past the driveway and turn around in the area of the road at the top. Then enter the driveway coming back down. There was no way our expedition could make the turn into the driveway coming for the direction driving in or vise versa when we were leaving we had to do the same thing. The drive way is steep also. Getting in and out had everyone a nervous wreck. The view is stunning.

Reviewer Comments: Didn't know what to expect as very few reviews show on this property's listing, but Alta Vista Maggie Valley truly exceeded our expectations. Photos don't do it justice. Gorgeous, spacious log cabin with incredible mtn views from 2 sides having walls of windows, as well as views from master bed, loft, decks & kitchen. Beds were soft for our taste, but loved the log master bed & soft sheets. Gorgeous wood floors, carpeted bdrms, great master bath w lovely tub. Jack-n-Jill bath upstairs perfect btwn 2nd & 3rd bdrms. Ping pong table in garage was a hit, couldn't really use air hockey. No neighbors in sight, extremely quiet & lovely. It's a little like being in a treehouse having all the lovely trees on the side of home. Driveway is a little dicey the 1st time; it's a little steep but is paved, unlike most cabins we've stayed. Outdoor furniture is extremely nice & comfortable. Cabin is situated about halfway up mountain so you don't get sunrise or sunset views, but have lovely reflections over the valley below. 10 min to Ingles grocery, 15 min to 1 of the prettiest stretches of Blue Ridge Pkwy. We would rent again. Suggest replacing thin towels, barstools, & don't be so stingy w starter pack so it truly is luxury cabin.

Alta Vista Mountain House

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Lovely mountain home. Adequate and comfortable for our family of 4 adults, 2 children for a 6 night stay. Views are wonderful. There were a few issues, however...1. We're not told about the DIFFICULT driveway in advance. It was written on the check-in envelope. Had to drive down the road to find a turn around each time. Angle of driveway makes it unaccessable directly.2. While the house was relatively clean, the carpets had major dog the point of trying to vacuum ourselves after locating the vacuum. No luck, long dog hairs imbedded in carpets. They need to be cleaned. Lower level smelled like dog.3. Fireplace--couldn't quite figure out how a gas fireplace has NO venting. Instructions indicated that upstairs room doors should be closed when using. Tried a fire one cool morning, but had the strong smell of gas and turned it off. Perhaps that is why a carbon monoxide indicator is plugged into socket next to fireplace.4. More outdoor furniture would be good. 4 rocking chairs and a small picnic table with benches is not enough for taking in the surrounding beauty of nature for 6 people with so many levels of decking.5. The realty office could be better informed. They told us that we were eligible to use Maggie Valley Country Club. After going there, the club told us that we needed paperwork from the Realty office that indicated we were staying there before we could use their club......soooo that meant another trip back to the office! Really, the office did NOT know this?Beware, use of the other club Laurel Ridge, requires $100 usage fee- none refundable. All that being said, the porch is lovely, kitchen was well supplied. We used the outdoor grill. There is a back door with easy access to the house and for unloading the car for those who gave difficulty with so many steps.Had we known some of the above issues, we probably would not have chosen this cabin.

We still found some attractions (tower) open late in the season. We only ate out a couple times since the property had everything we needed to just stay there and relax.

The reason I rated it a 4 instead of a 5 is because of the treacherous driveway and the miserly policy regarding a "starter kit" for items such as garbage bags, soap, toilet paper etc. The driveway is extremely difficult to maneuver one vehicle and more than one is a major problem. Be forewarned. Ask about it!
