About this property
Century Cottage-PERFECT for Mayo & downtown visitors!
In Lowertown-A quaint cottage with modern updates is your home away from home! Fully furnished and a well stocked kitchen make it a wonderful place for overnight stays or longer term rentals. Beautiful patio provides an urban sanctuary at the end of a long day. Close proximity to Mayo Clinic-downtown restaurants, grocery stores and shopping are within walking distance. Two blocks in either direction puts you on the trail system. Public transit 1 ½ blocks away and a laundromat is ½ block away.
This home provides everything you need for a stay in Rochester: fully furnished, all kitchen essentials and if there is something you need just ask and we can probably provide it! This home's two bedrooms sleep 4 people comfortably. There is also a “bonus” room with a queen size bed that can be used as a third bedroom . (Additional guests over 4 are $10 per night) During the summer season we are happy to have you help yourself to what is growing in the backyard garden. We typically have asparagus, rhubarb, onions, tomatoes and peppers.
You will have access to the 1 1/2 story home, the yard and patio. There is free street parking. The basement is private owner area. We live next door so can be available when needed. We are happy to share our knowledge of the Rochester area and of course our favorite restaurants!
We LOVE our neighborhood as it provides us with the sustainable lifestyle that is important to us. We can walk or bike to most everything we need within 10 minutes. We try to be as environmentally conscious as possible so don't use any pesticides, insecticides or harsh chemicals inside or out. In 2021 the newest additions to our urban homestead were CeCe, Tiffany and Sunshine-three laying hens that provide us with the eggs we need. The home we live in (next door) has been featured in several articles in and around Rochester as we strive to achieve as close to net-zero energy use as possible. If you are interested in a tour let us know!
This neighborhood is in the perfect setting; close to downtown but away from the main busy streets. Goose Egg Park (named for the shape ;-) is 2 blocks away and Silver Lake Park is 3 blocks away-so easy to take a little stroll on the paths or around the lake. Nearby in the Cook Park area of Lowertown are Garden Party Books, Pop's Art Theater and Wear Local. 125 Live is one of the newest offerings in our neighborhood with classes, art shows and many other events happening. Rochester Farmer's Market operates year round at Graham Park on Saturday mornings and in the summer Wednesdays are added.

Why they chose this property
We lived in the cottage for five years before buying the property next door and doing a full renovation on it to become our retirement home. That gave us the perfect opportunity to have the cottage as a short term rental as there is a great need here for accommodations of this type. At one time we had hoped to own a Bed & Breakfast and as times changed and STR's became more popular that seemed to be the route for us. We SO enjoy all of our guests and hope to provide that "home away from home".
What makes this property unique
So CLOSE to downtown Rochester and Mayo Clinic (if the need arises) while being centrally located to almost anything in the area. So MANY parks and green spaces. LOVELY coffee shops and foods of all ethnic backgrounds.
