About the host
Hosted by Greg Kimura
I've been here in Southern California for a large part of my life. I lived in Wrigleyville at a very young age and my family left the city for the suburbs, where I grew up. I graduated from college with an Electrical Engineering degree and came out to sunny California for a job - and what a job! I worked for the Dept of Defense (DOD) and at the same time I earned my MBA. I had a retail, mid to high end jewelry business, which I shifted to full time in the early 90's. Our business did well and I was able to retire at an early age ... unfortunately, the dot-com stock bubble soon un-retired me.
I then started my third career - as an auto buying consultant at a credit union. It seems like yesterday, but I've been doing this for over 20 years and I love what I do. I don't like what the dealers do to their customers, so I'm a determined advocate for my clients.
A few years ago, I was asked to help with some "issues" in our community, so I ran for town council and won the election. I gave it a try and was a councilman for a four year term. I also sit on a local school board; I've held positions from President, Vice President and Treasurer. I feel that our school is a huge plus for the community and I enjoy doing what I can to help.
I've been a property owner for over 30 years! Our holdings have been single family or condos. We do much of the work ourselves, which in most cases is very relaxing for me.
My better half, Cindy has been with me for over 20 years. She grew up in Orange County (back before the expansion) and she's been in California her whole life. She recently retired after a successful career with AT&T. She's a cancer survivor (pretty scary stuff) and has had a clean bill of health for over a decade! She has a Southern California spirit and she really cares about animals.
And I can't forget our little guy - Buddy Boy! He passed in 2020 after 21 years. We miss him so, so much.

Why they chose this property
We bought the condo for Cindy's mom back in 2006. She lived there with Sugar (her Westie) until Sugar lost her eyesight and she couldn't carry her up the stairs. She moved in with us for a short time, but she really likes her independence, so she found a "granny flat" and moved in - just a couple blocks from us.
We decided to turn the condo into a vacation home. We did some upgrades, furnished it and stocked it. We've had so many happy vacationers stay with us and we're glad to be able to provide a nice home away from home!
I feel that you will find our home to be a nice place to live with a luxury feel. As an engineer, I like quality products, so many of the upgrades are probably too good for a rental property, but I feel it adds a nice touch. We plan to retire here and I want to live in a quality home. For instance, the entry way has real slate stone, which I chose and laid myself. The paint combination was also my choice - I wanted it to be lively and bright without feeling brash or having odd colors reflected. The flooring throughout the home is also my choice (less the master bathroom). I like the look of the planks - it feels both modern and rustic! And the scraped wood effect gives it a high end look and feel.
The master bedroom is set up to be a quiet getaway. The bed has a high grade, premium mattress that's both soft and comfortable. We have solid wood furniture in the bedroom - a nice plus. And I also installed a soft heat baseboard heater - it provides a cozy warmth to the room!
The bathroom fixtures are high quality. Kohler, Speakman, Delta and Grohe are just a few of the companies I chose. Even the paint we use is good quality - I found out about a special type of Behr paint called Marquee. It's the best paint I've ever used - it flows well, leaves a thin yet strong film. No fading, peeling or losing texture/sheen. And it cleans well!

What makes this property unique
I believe it's good to do business with nice people. I believe that we're nice people and we're very understanding. Things happen in life and we get it. We also hope that the people who rent from us are also good people and they're understanding as well.
We chose this condo, due to the location. The garden view is so pleasant and calming. People walk down the Serpentine Walk (the name of the sidewalk) and often they'll look up and we'll exchange friendly greetings! Sitting out on the patio is such a treat. Calm and peaceful indeed!
So, you get a safe, well guarded and gated community. You get a nice upgraded interior with quality materials. Though the inside is very nice, the outside is an unexpected treat! And the combination of both, with the location is unbeatable. Where else can you be so close to the ocean/beach, have a spacious condo with great garden views and you get to rent for a reasonable price? I think this is a real gem!
