About the host
Hosted by James Sane

I was born and raised in western North Carolina. Sylvia and I have lived in Gerton for the past eighteen years. We purchased our house here in 1996. We moved here in 2000 to live full-time. I have extensive family roots to this area. Gerton is named after my Great-Great Aunt, Gertrude Freeman.
I retired from the Army in 1995. I spent my first eight years in the Airborne Infantry. I Became an Army Aviator in 1981. I flew helicopters until I retired in 1995. I flew a CH-47 Chinook helicopter in Desert Storm in 1990-1991. I've been a member of the Gerton Fire and Rescue Department for the past 20 years.
Sylvia and I have been married for 41 years. That's 287 years in dog years. Sylvia is a Georgia girl.

Why they chose this property
I was raised 21 miles down the road from Gerton. We would come to Gerton for visits when I was growing up. I always wanted to live in Gerton. Now I do.
What makes this property unique
I loved this property for many reasons. I can stand on my deck and view Bearwallow Mountain. Yes, bears do wallow there. It's just the most peaceful place to live. Great neighbors.
