About this property

Rustic Cabin, Appalachian Elegance, Rural But Close

As of May 23, 2020, my cabin is available for rent. I will follow CDC guidelines on cleaning, using an EPA-approved disinfectant for COVID-19 between customers. Thank you, George Stanley.

Appalachia at its best. A mountain cabin re-created within the basement (first floor, ground level) of my home for your pleasure. Private entrance(s), covered deck/patio, open deck, great view, very private setting.

The location has an East-West orientation, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Great place to sit, relax, and enjoy your favorite beverage.

The cabin is fully self contained. It has its own kitchen, bath with shower (no tub), and a small living/dining area. One bedroom with a king size bed.

Centrally located between I-40 and I-26, on Busbee Mountain, the property borders the Biltmore Estate and blends in with the Blue Ridge Parkway at an elevation of 3,346 feet. To get a real glimpse of the property, go to https://youtu.be/gd66YZ9MEsE

Beautiful, but Cold
Built out basement with a cabin feel, the views are tremendous, the owner an absolute joy, the rooms well built and appointed and clean. The shower is a bit small for an average size adult, but with all the appliances and kitchen space, you can cook meals for yourself. The only other thing is remember to bring a heavy jacket and headgear in early spring as it gets cold and the wind chill on the ridge is fierce. Also, out of season can see road and picnic spot closures at the BRNP. Be prepared for a bit of a climb on the road up. The wife and I and our husky mix Boyd enjoyed our stay as it is a comfortable environment if the weather is bad. And the location is near the BRNP and other sites. George is a great host. Highly recommended.

About the host

Hosted by George Stanley

Host profile image
I am retired. I enjoy my cat, Olly.

I retired from the Community College System and enjoy meeting people, thus the rental.

I enjoy traveling and finding neat places. I hope I have created one here.

Why they chose this property

I had a half -finished basement when I purchased the home, which I separated from the house upstairs. I envisioned a downstairs cabin so others could enjoy the beautiful mountains as I do.

What makes this property unique

Living on a rural mountain and bordering the Biltmore Estate Property, there is an abundance of wildlife - turkey, deer, pheasants, bear, raccoons, generally all sorts of wildlife. I have pictures of bear in the yard and in close-by trees.
At an elevation of 3,346 feet, the cabin overlooks a huge valley. The valley is often filled with fog, creating a beautiful sunrise at eye-level.
