Completely remodeled upstairs flat with great reviews! Three blocks to the beach, in the most desirable neighborhood in Galveston. Walk to restaurants, bars and local attractions or take our bikes and explore the island. The home is light and bright with tall ceilings, big new windows, central HVAC, luxury linens, new mattresses, pots/pans, balcony, wifi, grill, two bikes, etc. Great Reviews!

The Salt Water House is an upstairs 3 bedroom, 1 bath flat that is located three blocks from the seawall in a great neighborhood. We completely remodeled this house but kept the charm of the 1900 house intact, just modernized. The only way to access this home is to climb stairs.... we want to make sure our guests are aware of that.
We love this house and we maintain it and clean it as it is near and dear to our hearts. We want guests that will treat it with the respect it deserves; leave it in the condition you found it in.

BEDS:
1st Bedroom: 1 King bed. - JW Marriott Mattress
2nd Bedroom: 2 twins - Quality Mattresses for adults
3rd Space: 1 twin - Quality Adult Mattress

The SWH has a beautiful king bedroom with a new pillow-top mattress and hotel quality sheets.

The Seaside Room has two new cherry sleigh beds with new mattresses and luxury bedding.

The third "bedroom" is called the Sleeping Nook and is pretty small but it has a twin bed with new mattress and quality sheets and duvet, trendy wall lamp and headboard. It sleeps like an absolute dream. This room is right off the living room and we have curtains separating the space.

BATH:
The bathroom is gorgeous and has a big glass shower with a rain head fixture. The towels are luxury hotel grade. It's light and bright with a huge window for natural light.

KITCHEN:
The kitchen is our favorite room with generous counter space and a full sink, oven and fridge; it's color scheme is bright and airy and the granite counters and tile floor are easy to care for. It's a massive kitchen for a vacation rental. There is a little window seat and a high top table with four stools.

LIVING ROOM:
The living room has a new blue sectional sofa and reading chair, along with two new barrel side chairs. We have a 50" inch flatscreen tv in the living room with Roku TV (streaming netflix and hulu). There is a little balcony off the front stairs to enjoy as well.

There is parking for two cars on the street.
For our guests comfort and because there are already dogs on the property we do not allow any pets in this rental.

We do keep our rates really low to encourage single and double occupancy. Only registered guests are allowed in or on the property. After two guests, we charge $15 per night per person during the booking process. If you add guests after booking is finalized, it is $50 per night per person, up to the max number of guests.

This is a wonderful alternative to a hotel with all the luxuries of home.

Great Location & Clean house

This place had all that we could ask for during our short stay! It was close to lots of restaurants and the beach. We stayed prior to boarding a cruise and it was perfect!!!

Sweet little spot!

A bit galveston history

We rented the up stairs unit in the 2 unit building. It has been renovated but they kept the turn of the century charm. Ruth was wonderful to work with. The location is prime. A few steps to everywhere. We will definitely return! Thanks!!

Great location

We, 3 adults and 2 infants stayed two night. This is a cute home at great location. We walked to the beach, dinner restaurant and breakfast cafe. If it was not that hot, we will definitely walk to the historic street instead of driving. Property manager, Ruth and Chris always gave quick response via message. Even one night I had to contact her at 11:30pm about a/c, she solved problem immediately, We enjoyed the days staying there!

Everything we were looking for!

WOW! This apartment was absolutely perfect for our weekend family getaway. We were looking for a place that is walking distance to the beach and would work for travelling with a toddler. Everything about The Saltwater House exceeded our expectations and our toddler's first trip to the beach is a memory we'll treasure forever (she actually thinks it's OUR apartment and keeps asking when we can go back ;) We appreciate Chris & Ruth's attention to detail, great communication, and for making our trip a treasured family memory. We can't wait to visit again!

Clark family stay

The building is very old not what we expected. We stayed for three days and only got one set of towels. The place only has one bathroom it was five of us. We thought the place had a lower level and upper level we were disappointed.

Thank you for your review. We clearly state it has one bathroom and that this is the upper level. Again, clearly states this is a 1906 corner store that has been completely renovated. I don’t think these guests travel very often.

Decided to rent property because daughter was flying in from Ohio and wanted to go to beach in Galveston for a few days. Saw property on VRBO and it looked great. After deciding to rent property I received a response from owner stating the high standards that were expected to rent this place and the reason why I wanted to rent it. I responded to her request(not knowing that the property looked nothing like the pictures and was basically crapy and old) and was accepted. On the day of check in,family drives from San Antonio to Galveston and arrive at the property at 4pm. Could not believe what we were seeing from the outside.I started calling and texting the owner for 30 minutes and after no response, wife is highly upset and I decided to make a reservation at the Marriott Bonvoy in Houston for the same price and better amenities. I finally reached owner and demanded a refund. Her excuse was her phone was locked in het car,she was only to happy to refund our money . There are camera all over the place and I think our skin complexion had a little something to do with it. This place is not wort half of what they want for it. Beware

Wow! This is an extremely inaccurate review. This guest arrived at the rental and demanded the codes; which I had sent via the app. He called and left a message and I called him back within minutes. After yelling at me and cussing me out for not answering my phone and telling me we arent allowed to have cameras, I decided to refund his money if he went ahead and cancelled the reservation. He was very disrespectful to me and I can only imagine how he would have treated the house. Our cameras are clearly stated on the listing and the fact that he was so upset that we have exterior cameras is quite suspicious. We had to come change door codes for our safety.

Just a get away

The property is an old home split into two rentals. Top floor is one unit ,bottom is another. Both rentals enter same front door. There are multiple camera's in different locations. One on the front porch, one inside the lower level entry, and one on the top floor of rental. It seems very strange knowing your every move is being watched. The first Day we arrived it was 97outside. The thermostat was set at 78, I bumped it down to cool unit... within an hour we received a call nit to turn it down. Im guessing the call wasn't enough because 5 minutes later we received an email saying the same thing about the thermostat. We didn't dare touch the thermostat again until the last night there. The second day there, the toilet clogged...being an old house the clogged toilet not unexpected. We Went to the "common area" outside the unit to look for a plunger. Apparently my husband left a cabinet door open because Within 30 minutes we received a call that "some man entered and blocked the camera" that is used to make sure extra people do not enter the property. I'm guessing the two other cameras below weren't sufficient to see who entered/exited the main entrance. The 4th evening we returned from a day at the beach and the thermostat had been set at 78 (not by us!). It felt Pretty awesome to walk into a steamy unit. At this point We turned it back to 72 and waited until it cooled back down. We Woke up sweating this morning because the powers that be returned the unit control to 78 again. Again, the property is nice but be prepared to be "under his eye" (for those that watched Handsmaid Tales :)

Perfect Location, great apartment

Visted Galveston for the weekend with friends. This apartment is the upstairs of an old home which has been completely remodeled but has the charm of the original house. It is located nice quiet area and is a short easy walk to the beach and restaurants along the seawall. There were three of us visiting and we found it spacious. The apartment was clean, and as we were only there for the weekend, didn't do not do any real cooking however, the kitchen was well appointed. Communication with the owner, who lives on the island, was easy and all questions answered promptly. Somehow the smart TV had been logged out of apps, so he dropped by and fixed it for us quickly. We had a great weekend. I would stay here again.

Guys Fishing Trip

Beyond our expectations

This House is so awesome. It’s close to the Beach, so close you can walk. Great places to eat close by. It’s also a great location, located In the Historical Galveston area on the East end of the island. The owners Ruth & Chris are sooo nice and very helpful with the booking process and everything else. We stayed on the top floor and Boy were we impressed. So cute and cozy. You have everything you need. It’s everything they say it is and way more. The pictures of the SWH are on point but!!!! pictures do it no Justice. It has so much personality and is so cutely decorated. Comfy beds and furniture. We fell in love with the shower 😆 it’s beautiful. The SWH Also has it’s own history I found out! Might I suggest, if you book this home that you look around at the books on the shelf’s. So much History and information. I love this home. I highly recommend staying here and most likely will stay here again. It was an awesome experience!! Sheila 😊

The property was amazing! It’s in a good location, three blocks from the beach and Dennys! My boys had fun …….. as well as us three adults. The stairs are not for an 82 year old but she did well overall.

Perfect Location

My family went down to Galveston for a soccer tournament at the beach. We chose to stay here instead of a hotel. I am so glad we did. The location was perfect. We were close to the park we needed and close to the pier where all the action is. Ruth was very quick to respond when I had a question. She was great to work with. I would highly recommend this house if you j e a family and don’t want to squeeze into a hotel room. We had plenty of space and the kitchen was fully stocked.

13 year old birthday trip from grand. Second time staying here with my grandkid. Close to beach.

Enjoy this property. Ate a few meal in the kitchen, each teenager(2) had their own room. Close to Pleasure Pier, beach, and planned a fishing trip.
