We totally enjoyed our stay at Lazy Moose Cabin. The cabin was clean and cozy with all we needed for our stay. We found some beautiful hikes in the area and saw deer, a moose, and a bald eagle. We back deck was wonderful in the afternoon and evenings. Plus, the owner was very helpful and friendly.
We enjoyed sitting on the deck at night and marvelling at all the stars we could see as there was no other light to interfere. The cabin was clean and comfortable and we appreciated being able to have our dog.
Myself and two friends drove up from Fort Worth, TX for an event at Beaver Meadows. We were able to easily access property. Scenery was absolutely beautiful.
We stayed here to get away from traffic noise and people. The cabin did not disappoint! Being surrounded by aspens and pines, hearing nothing but the birds helped us to just relax. We didn't even care about the rain. Our pups had a great time too! This is the best place we've stayed in a long time that really catered to our pups.
My partner and I visited the the Lazy Moose with our two large dogs this past month while we explored the Red Feather Lakes and surrounding state parks. My parents joined us for part of the time and the cabin fit our needs. We saw deer in the backyard daily. There were also a lot of hummingbirds that visited us on the back deck. The owners were very responsive when I contacted them with a question. All in all The Lazy Moose is a wonderful dog friendly cabin for the Red Feather Lake Area.
We traveled from out of state to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with our daughter, a student at CSU. We could not have picked a more perfect place! The scenery is breathtaking and the peacefulness and coziness of the cabin provided the ideal respite from the demands of day to day life. The cabin was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a traditional Thanksgiving dinner. The wood burner in the living room provided both warmth and atmosphere. The cabin was just the right size for the two of us, our daughter and our dog. I honestly can’t say enough about this haven in the mountains. If you are looking for a cozy cabin with fantastic views where you will feel at home, look no further.
We must have different definitions of what "secluded " means. I wanted our closest neighbors to be a min of 2 miles, if not 15 to 20 miles away. Middle of no where. 200 yards away is NOT! secluded. Tucked away, private, and in a developed neighborhood, are much better ways to describe the cabin. Other than that, it was great!
The cabin was in a beautiful location, had everything we needed except for food, clothes and toiletries, and was very cozy. We appreciated the perks of WiFi and tons of movies, several of which we watched in the evening and when it was cold and rainy. We spotted a doe and her two fawns and a pack of at least three coyotes from the cabin; enjoyed the fall colors mixed in with evergreens on our walks, and my husband fished the big lake and some ponds, catching (and releasing) several fish. We had planned to eat at some of the area restaurants while there but apparently most of them are not open during the week, so we're thankful we took plenty of food. We would definitely recommend this cabin and area!
The property has all the basic kitchen needs. Enough beds for our family. Cute and toasty little fire place which kept us warm and made delicious s’mores! It was peaceful, had areas to explore, and large windows to enjoy the beauty from indoors as well! I would absolutely recommend!
We absolutely loved this cozy cabin! The deck is the best place to enjoy nature, mountain surroundings and wildlife. We will definitely be back. Loved how dog friendly it is. Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful oasis amongst the aspens.
This cabin is fully stocked for a perfect family or romantic getaway! It has a warm cozy cabin feel and was so comfortable we didn’t want to leave. We spend our time fishing a nearby pond and hanging out on the patio. We saw baby moose and lots of deer close to the cabin. It was the perfect place to reset and get away from the hustle and bustle. We will definitely stay here again!
Such a wonderful experience. Didn't have a single hiccup and had such a relaxing week with my family. Hiking and fishing close by! Will stay again next time!!!
We were looking for serenity and solitude and that is just what we found at Lazy Moose cabin!
We also did some fishing and hiking with short trips to Creedmore Lakes, Lost Lake (Yes, we found it!),nWest Lake and Dowdy Lake.
We got a bit of Spring snow during our stay and on the last day we woke to sun shining through hoarfrost. The cabin is cozy with everything we needed. Thanks for sharing this little piece of paradise.
This cabin met our needs for a 3 night stay following our trip to RMNP. We enjoyed the deck and the fire table. The location was convenient. The check in and check out process was smooth.
The Lazy Moose cabin was a perfect getaway for a long weekend. It is close to lots of nice hikes, some beautiful lakes and feels remote. (The only very minor issue was that we had to delay our arrival to 4pm, a little later than what the listing showed, but not a big deal at all.) Definitely worth a stay!

Disliked: Communication
Excellent video and game collection, plentiful firewood, kitchen stocked with dishes/glasses, abundant privacy and beautiful natural surroundings.
However: grill and futon broken, both propped up with rock/piece of wood, internet down for our entire stay and limited cell coverage so communication with host was difficult and tedious, zero follow up or resolution on wifi/internet disruption, which thwarted our plans for getting some homework and work finished during our stay, furnishings stained and worn. Did not feel as though state of lodging met price point.
I stayed here last summer and I have nothing but good things to say about our stay! This cabin was amazing in the summer and I would love to come again in the winter. Since the cabin is in the mountains there’s lots of wildlife to see and the view is amazing! The owner provides a book of things to do nearby - we really enjoyed fishing and just walking around the area. Would definitely recommend staying here!
We really enjoyed our time at Lazy Moose Cabin. It was a cozy, clean, and wonderful place to stay. We loved the walks with our dogs and the time spent by the wood stove. We also loved the quiet area and the beautiful views. The walk to the reservoir is a good one. We really had a fantastic time!
