Updated Log Cabin on Pickerel Lake

Very limited availability. Please check calendar. …………..Two story lakefront log cabin (1800+ square feet) with all the modern amenities. Cabin sits on a large grassy lot that goes up to the water, with hard packed sand bottom perfect for swimming, wading, boating, fishing. Fire pit at the lakefront. Boat rentals available from local marinas or bring your own boat and launch from nearby public launch. Boat right up to owners dock and moor your boat there. Excellent fishing (bass, walleye, pike). Pickerel Lake is by far the most quiet of the Inland Waterway. Great waterskiing, wake boarding, and all boating activities. Incredible sunsets.

The Inland Waterway will connect you by boat to Crooked Lake, Burt Lake, Mullet Lake and Lake Michigan (and Mackinaw Island). The Mackinaw Bridge and Mackinaw Island are just 30 minutes by car and Traverse City (Cherry Capital of the World and shopping) is just 1 1/2 hours away. Thunder Falls water park is located in Mackinaw City.

Downtown Petoskey, as well as nearby Charlevoix and Harbor Springs have many activities year round to enjoy as well as excellent shopping!

The cabin has 3 bedrooms downstairs, 2 bedrooms have queen size log beds, one bedroom has a full size log bed. Washer and dryer on first floor. The loft has 2 queen size log beds. All linens are new and very cozy. One bathroom downstairs with shower and one full bathroom upstairs with tub and shower. The large living room has original field stone wood burning fireplace, very cozy, with attached screened-in porch. Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen and a gas grill on the patio. A party store is within walking distance for all general food supplies, as well as, fishing license, bait, videos, pizza and other carryout foods.

This cabin was built in 1935 and the owners take pride in updating and adding something new every year to this unique cabin.

Pickerel Lake Log Cabin

Very nice place, but older log cabins tend to be a bit dark inside even on sunny days. Kitchen very well appointed, and beds were comfortable. Lake view and amenities were great with chairs, canoe, paddle boat. Host was very hospitable and helpful. Very comprehensive instructions on usage and tips about the area.

Gorgeous Up North Cabin

This cabin on Pickerel Lake is what Up North is all about! We comfortably fit two families (of 5 and 4), and one grandparent for a week :) Nestled in the woods on the south side of Pickerel Lake, this cabin is a great retreat for your up north stay. We LOVED the lawn between the cabin and the lake - our group of 5 kids played soccer, frisbee, football, and tag every day. We could sit back, watch them play, and see the lake in the background. Gorgeous! For folks looking for a fully updated and fancy place - this isn't for you. This cabin has "old cabin" vibes, which I appreciate and find charming. It has all you need and could want - cooking utensils, washer/dryer, board games etc. - and is close to Petoskey for quick trips to the grocery store or to stroll the streets. I highly recommend this cabin!

Wonderful and can’t wait to come back

The Pickeral Lake cottage was amazing! We had 9 adults and a toddler and there was plenty of space for all. Best features: -Firepit next to the lake -Shallow water with a soft sandy bottom -Huge lawn for yard games -Centrally located and short drive for activities -Plenty of amenities provided (towels, full kitchen, games, books, dvds, chairs) Our family loved doing the following: -Renting a pontoon boat and touring the lakes -Fire and s’mores every night -Star program at the Headlands dark sky park -Day at the beach / collecting Petoskey and Charlevoix stones -Family meals and games at night -Napping in the cozy beds and hammock (we brought one) Owners were great to work with. Answered all questions timely and were very friendly and flexible. We plan to come again next year and will enjoy our memories until then!

Summer week up north

We had a great time at this adorable, rustic log cabin. The outside area is fantastic for families and small children. The water is very shallow surrounding the dock and we caught a lot of fish! The owner was very nice to work with and easy to communicate with. He offered lots of information about area and things to do. We ended up putting our boat in on Burt lake. We had a great week:-)

Enjoyable week by the lake

We traveled with another family to Pickerel Lake for the 4th of July and had a wonderful time at this property. It was clean, well stocked with the essentials (chairs, fire wood, towels, linens, kitchen) and a beautiful space on a quiet lake. Swimming and kayaking (brought our own) during the day were so much fun, we rented a boat from a nearby marina for two of the days and traveled up to Burt lake, and fished and watched the sunset over a bonfire at night. The kids loved the loft space and the huge lawn! Overall a great week.

Absolutely perfect!

It really was perfect for our family. The kids loved the swimming area and the big yard. We had a large tent that we put our tables, chairs, and picnic table in for late night games and such. The dock was very accommodating. We had a speed boat, pontoon, and a fishing boat all docked for the week. Fire pit was in a perfect spot to watch fire works, sunsets and sunrises. We will be returning! Thanks for the memories!

Our favorite vacation spot

We have been renting this cottage for four years and it has become a tradition with all of our family. The cottage has all of the charm of the ideal log cabin on a lake with large living room with beams and a huge stone fireplace. It feels just like home with its thoughtful decor and comfort. The kitchen is well stocked for cooking and there is a big table for outdoor dining. My kids love the yard. It is flat and grassy and perfect for lawn games. There is a fire pit by the water and plenty of firewood. Every night is family gathering time with games and stargazing. We all love Pickerel Lake for it's beauty and calmness. It is quiet compared to larger lakes and has the most beautiful views from the shore. It is perfectly located for breath-taking sunsets. The cottage neighboring area is wonderful for walks and there is a convenience store nearby for forgotten items and great pizza. Crooked Lake (attached by a small natural waterway) has several marinas for boat rentals. Every thing we need is nearby and each year we think we will do more exploring, but are so content to stay and enjoy the cottage and the lake. The owner is great to work with and makes an effort to make sure our family enjoys the week. I to recommend this cottage for it has made many wonderful memories for our family.

Perfect cottage on Pickerel Lake!

My extended family has gotten together every year over the past 8 years to rent a cottage on the lake and we have all agreed that this is the best one yet! The cottage gives you the perfect "Up North" feeling of a log cabin nestled in the woods. The yard is beautiful - grassy and shady; the lake is beautiful, and the dock is really nice, too. I really appreciated how easy it has been to work with the owner -- just the greatest experience all the way around!

A wonderful rustic cottage with every modern convenience!

This beautiful log house is both rustic and at the same time modern. We had a great week. The view of the lake is breathtaking and the water is crystal clear with a great hard and bottom. The lawn goes right to the waters edge and the water is shallow enough for small children. My 3 year old granddaughter had a wonderful time. The accommodations are beautiful, fully stocked kitchen, tables outside, fire pit and sn old fashioned wood burning fireplace inside. This place is absolutely immaculately clean. There are four bedrooms and room for a great family vacations. This place has the best beds we have ever slept in, including our own. You won't find s nicer cabin for s family vacation than this cottage.

Absolutely wonderful. Just back from this cottage & throughly enjoyed time with family, including golden retriever. All loved it! Excellent beds, roomy kitchen, lovely screen porch. Lawn & dock are superior to others I've experienced. Everyone is so friendly. Makes it a pleasant experience. Love shopping in Petosky & eating at Duffey's outside. Amesome vacation for our entire family!

This was a great place for our family....The grandkids and my kids just loved it! We just cant say enough about how homey and relaxing this little getaway was. The grandkids didn't ask about cable or internet the whole time we were there! My 9 year old grand daughter caught a large mouth bass that put all the guys to shame! Right off the dock! Our memories here will be cherished, and no picture on any iPhone would be comparable to actually being there! Just an amazing time!

Hanauer Family Vacation 2014

We found this property to be exactly as presented, which is not always the case. Kitchen was stocked better than any property we have previously rented. Good cookware, plenty of dishes, spices, great appliances, and a quality grill. (That was clean). We are quite familiar with the area, so to address the virtues of Pickeral Lake would be very biased. The beds slept as well as my three month old mattress at home, with new or like new bedding. The boat dock was great for the grand kids to swim from. The public boat ramp is more than adequate for launching your boat. Everyone in our party was sad to see our time end. We will be back, I can guarantee it. Thanks Julianne, for everything.

12TH ANNUAL SMITH FISH TRIP

2013 was the 12th Annual Smith Fishing Trip on beautiful Pickerel Lake. The accommodations at Farrey's cottage were exceptional. The feeling of northern exposure hits you when you enter the cabin. The 5 brothers spent the next 7 days enjoying the fishing, music and the fall football schedule on Pickerel and Crooked Lake. The brothers enjoyed each evening in front of the warm fireplace that capped off every evening providing an incredible comfort to us all. The location was perfect during our stay which was located right next to the public boat launch, a party store, and only a few miles away from beautiful Petoskey, Michigan. I would highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a relaxing atmosphere away from the every day stresses of work or just an opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends. Thank you Julianne for being so accommodating during the scheduling process. God willing the Smith family will keep you in mind for future trips. Again thank you from Chris, Sid, Steve, Phil, and Paul.

Fabulous Family Vacation Cabin

We had a lovely week here. The cabin is charming with personal touches and decorated thoughtfully. Beds were made and there were loads of bath towels. We had some hot weather and the abundance of fans brought in cool air at night for sleeping. We had lovely sunset views and found Pickeral Lake to be the best for tubing, skiing and wakeboarding because of it's small size, it is also the calmest of the lakes. Despite being the mid to end of July, it was also delightfully peaceful and quiet. The location is perfect for trips to explore the area; only 20 minutes from Petoskey. The lisitng was very accurate and the property was very clean and well-maintained. The owner is especially helpful with any questions we had and gave us some great spots to check out. We liked it so much, we plan to return. Some places to visit while here: 1) Petoskey: the Bayview area with it's Victorian summer homes and The Terrace Inn (lovely dinner and luncheon restaurant; 2) downtown Petoskey: shops and restaurants..check out Roast and Toast for coffee/breakfast, 3) Harbor Springs for it's shops, galleries and charm, 4) Bill's Farm Market: fabulous produce, cut flowers and more. There is much more to do here than I can relate. Do take a boat trip through the rivers and lakes to Mullet Lake and stop at the Two Loon's Deli for sandwiches. We rented a boat from Windjammer Marina on Crooked Lake and highly recommend them. It was a fabulous week in a cabin that made us feel we were home and it was pure Michigan! One last detail...The Party Shoppe has great pizza!

Just returned from a wonderful vacation at the cottage. The cottage was beautiful, Very clean when we arrived. It was just as the photo's reflected. Although we didn't have the best weather week the warmth of the cottage made it very homey. We had many good nights around the beautiful fireplace. Perfect vacation cottage

For the past 10 years we've rented cottages on Crooked, Burt and Pickeral Lakes. This one is by far the best. It has a great location, only minutes to Petoskey and all the fun in that area. The cottage is always sparkling clean and the beds are very cozy. It has a sand beach, nice grass lawn and a awesome fire pit right next to the lake. You can't believe the stars at night in this beautiful northern haven. No matter if you are a golfer, fisherman, boater or just need to relax, this is a great place to be. FYI, if you are a boater, you absolutely need to take a trip on the Inland Waterway. The trip from Pickeral Lake to Crooked Lake through the locks and down the Crooked River to Burt Lake then through Indian River into Mullet Lake is a trip of a lifetime and you can do it in one day! Wonderful!

This clean and cozy cottage really was a home away from home, but on a beautiful lake:) The beds and linens were all top notch and the kitchen had everything we needed. The property on the lake was large enough for us to play badminton and bag toss at the same time. The sandy bottom made swimming enjoyable and jet skis are available from Windjammers on Crooked Lake, so we just drove them through the scenic channel to Pickerel Lake. Mackinac Island is close by for a day trip, as well as Petoskey. We enjoyed a spectacular dinner at Chandler's and unique shopping in Petoskey. The renters nearby were friendly as well. We hope to repeat our pleasant experience again at this rental in the future.
